In this workshop, learners will focus on Strategic Management from a Leadership perspective. Managing People and Organisation

This two-day workshop explores traditional and contemporary approaches to the strategic management of people both individually and in teams.
An emphasis is placed on the achievement and development of an effective, efficient and sustainable workforce capable of delivering high levels of organisational performance.
Consideration is given to the managerial challenges of different organisational contexts, managing employees, and managerial ideologies and processes. Learners will also evaluate the implementation, application and various implications of managerial action while taking account of internal and external business environments.

Risk Management

This two-day workshop is concerned with economic and financial decisions taken under conditions of risk and uncertainty.  This risk and uncertainty may be concerning cash flows, prices, quantity and quality of goods or services or the reaction of competitors.  The source of the risk and uncertainty and methods that business can employ to deal with these situations are explored fully to build confidence and competence of learners.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Assess the nature, scope and impact of risk and uncertainty in the business context and show a keen appreciation for attitudes to risk and the consequences of loss in the modern world.
  2. Develop a critical understanding of risk sharing and the pooling of risk over time using a variety of techniques of analysis such as hedging and insurance underpinned by Game Theory and Agency Theory.
  3. Develop and apply the relevant evaluation and investigative techniques to interpret data and information used in financial markets and between organisations in the face of risk and uncertainty.
  4. Reflect upon the role of risk & uncertainty faced by management and leadership and appreciating the random nature of events such as “Black Swan” episodes in the context of underpinning strategic agility and drive for results competencies

Performing in Organisation

This module explores developing organisational agility, by being able to enhance personal performance and well-being along with the performance and well-being of others. A range of concepts will be covered, including how to understand, manage, and respond positively to stress. You will explore how the way in which we think and view demands placed upon can help you and those around you perform effectively. The social identity approach to leadership is also considered in which three stages of leadership (Reflect, Represent, Realise) are outlined. Finally, we consider how individuals time (e.g., when should cognitively demanding tasks be completed), and habits (e.g., sleep, email activity) and that of the organisation can be structured most effectively to enhance performance and well-being.

The aim of this module is to give a general overview of some of the classic and enduring rules and strategic practices of marketing relevant for contemporary marketers, and then to equip you with a basic understanding of the new tactics and tools, such as digital marketing, and apply these models and tools to “real world” business cases. Upon completion of the module, you as an executive should understand how you can make informed decisions to achieve business growth for your company.

Marketing today is facing change. How can executives and senior managers make corporate level decisions based on existing marketing paradigms when also faced with new approaches and technologies? The answer is to understand the basic tenets of strategic marketing and then to consider how these fit into changing approaches in today’s ever-changing marketplace.  The module will test the following competencies: strategic agility, strategic marketing planning processes, and customer focus, as all marketing activity centres on the marketing concept and therefore meeting and satisfying customer needs.

  1. Critically appraise the digital stakeholder and customer, dynamics and interrelationships to enable the creation of effective marketing strategies and evaluate the impact of emerging themes including national and global brand awareness/reputation

Financial Concept Practice

This two-day intensive short course reviews the makeup and function of the international accounting regulatory and conceptual framework, considering how it aims to work in the public interest and its growing impact on SME’s.

Learners will investigate the accounting concepts and practices relating to areas such as off- balance sheet financing, substance over form, revenue recognition and asset impairment.

The combination of theory and practical exercises will equip learners with an understanding and ability to apply ratio and trend analysis linked to the evaluation of investment opportunities and risk analysis, looking at key areas of company profitability, efficiency, short and long-term liquidity and investment ratios including earnings per share.  The course also involves researching current areas of development within accounting concepts and practice, relevant to both large and small businesses.

Finance for non-finance managers

Finance for Non-Financial Managers is an intensive two-day course designed to provide non-financial managers and others with the knowledge and confidence required to comprehend and participate in financial decision-making and analysis. Learners will carry out a fair amount of financial manipulation will be introduced to spreadsheets with a number of cases.

Case studies are also used to enable the learners to take ownership of the knowledge offered by applying it to a case. Teacher Training Programmes

BUV Training Centre offers Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications Programmes Each certificate will follow the recommended format of three elements (classroom, online, and practical workplace learning components) of 40 hours each. Our programme will integrate the three areas so that the skills can build in a spiral throughout the overall course as learners work through important units. Work-based learning will happen throughout the program and tasks, responses and reflection will be related to topics being studied during guided learning in set classes on campus. Individual and collaborative work will also happen throughout the programme, with projects being set that can call upon the problems associated with work-based practice and the theory being learned in the classroom. Learning will be a combination of classroom learning scheduled on evenings and weekends, as well as online learning and workplace practical learning.

Delivered both in an interactive mode, these short courses will provide teachers with opportunities to explore, practice and experience best practice through. These two-week blended short courses combine face to face class time with independent/collaborate work. These initial modules will gradually become suites of micro credit offerings which can lead to more comprehensive certification and are designed:

  • To provide opportunities for all staff to further their professional knowledge and skills in best teaching and learning practices, leadership, student engagement and wellbeing, and student transition.
  • To build staff capacity to lead specific areas of education such as student learning, student engagement, leadership, digital education and student wellbeing.

Educational Leadership and Management

Leadership matters: it makes a difference to the quality of learning and teaching and the performance of schools. The Cambridge International Certificate/Diploma in Educational Leadership is for candidates with a leadership role in schools, or who are leaders in other parts of the educational system with direct responsibilities for teachers or leaders or for teachers aspiring to take up the same.
