Wellbeing and Psychological Support

When being a BUV student, looking after your health and wellbeing is essential to get the most out of your time. Life at university can be exciting, and we understand it can also bring challenges, such as adjusting to a new environment and the general stress of being a student. Sometimes, it is not easy to reach out to family and friends or deal with things ourselves. Counselling can be helpful during these times.

British University Vietnam provides confidential, ethical and high-quality professional counselling to all currently enrolled students free of charge.

You may undertake counselling to talk about personal, emotional, or mental health issues which affect your studies and life. Some common issues can include:

  • Stress
  • Life transitions, such as adjusting to university
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Cultural adjustment
  • Study and career issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Addictive behaviors
  • Eating or body image concerns
  • Self-esteem
  • Traumatic experiences
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Sexuality and gender identity
  • Relationship issues

After 2 years of the official launch of the Wellbeing and Psychological Counselling services, BUV Counselling services has already provided more than 200 individual sessions for students, addressing relationship issues, wellbeing and mental health concerns. In addition, through bi-weekly tea talk sessions, the Service has created a safe and non-judgmental environment for all students to release their emotions and recharge energy.

We provide tremendous support to students by organising a wide range of activities, workshops and sharing talks such as:

  • Life Skill and Well-being Workshops available for all students
  • Tea-Talks which suit smaller groups with special concerns
  • Other Well-being activities such as Exhibitions or Campaigns

We know that you like studying hard, but as part of the experience of being a BUV student, we suggest you have a healthy lifestyle and intensive fitness regime. All the sessions I had with the BUV Well-being team, in which I was seen and heard most compassionately and lovingly, have been extremely helpful to my academic and personal lives. Our counsellor is very attentive and responsive, trying her best to create a safe environment to pour my heart out.
