Wellbeing & Psychological Support

Wellbeing and Psychological Support
Looking after your health and wellbeing is essential to get the most out of your time. Life at university can be exciting, and we understand it can also bring challenges, such as adjusting to a new environment and the general stress of being a student. Sometimes, it is not easy to reach out to family and friends or deal with things ourselves. Counselling can be helpful during these times.
British University Vietnam provides confidential, ethical and high-quality professional counselling to all currently enrolled students free of charge.
You may undertake counselling to talk about personal, emotional, or mental health issues which affect your studies and life. Some common issues can include:

Our student counsellors are highly qualified professionals with Master’s degrees in Psychology and certifications in various therapy techniques. They have extensive experience working with students in individual sessions, addressing relationship issues, well-being, and mental health concerns. Additionally, through tea-talk sessions, our team fosters a safe, non-judgmental space for students to express their emotions and recharge.
We offer extensive support to students through various activities, workshops, and sharing talks, including:
- Life Skills and Well-being Workshops open to all students
- Tea-Talks for smaller groups with specific concerns
- Exhibitions, campaigns and conferences that raise awareness about psychology-related themes and promote a healthier academic environment
We know that you like studying hard, but as part of the experience of being a BUV student, we suggest you have a healthy lifestyle and intensive fitness regime. All BUV-ers are entitled to full access to our Gym and Fitness Center, Dance studio and the Sports Complex consisting of a international standard football field, basketball and badminton courts, and other sports areas to help you enjoy all on your schedule.

DISABILITY SUPPORT
British University Vietnam realises that not all students are the same and some have specific needs to support their learning and development. Our campus is disability-friendly in terms of facilities and movement, but our support goes far beyond the physical.
We offer software to enable visually impaired students to use our e-resources, we also have text to speech software and equipment for loan to enable students to fully engage. For students who are hearing impaired, we offer sign language in Vietnamese as well as English to cater for all subjects as well as out of class additional learning support. This is accompanied by speech to text software.
The Student Well-being team coordinates with all the relevant teams at BUV to ensure that students are not disadvantaged. This includes additional time for examinations, as well as providing specific facilities for students who require them during assessment periods. Provision is also available to record lectures and tutorials for students who are not able to participate for medically approved reasons.

All the sessions I had with the BUV Well-being team, in which I was seen and heard most compassionately and lovingly, have been extremely helpful to my academic and personal lives. Our counsellor is very attentive and responsive, trying her best to create a safe environment to pour my heart out.
