The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) comprises the Senior Managers, Heads, Directors, and leaders of the most important areas within the University. The representation within the group is an excellent balance and mixture of experience, energy, gender, and nationality, with highly expert Vietnamese staff encouraged and supported to take leadership roles in most areas. The SLT reports directly to BUV’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice-President who oversees the daily operations, while the overall strategic management is led by our Vice-Chancellor with the support of VCE (Vice Chancellor Executives).

Professor Raymond Gordon

Vice Chancellor, President and General Director

Professor Dr. Raymond Gordon was appointed to the position of Vice Chancellor and President of the British University Vietnam in February 2018. Professor Gordon is not only an experienced leader in higher education but is also an accomplished academic with extensive teaching and research experience at universities throughout the world. His research work is in the field of leadership and power in organizations, and he has successfully published over 70 peer-reviewed academic books, journal articles and book chapters. Prior to becoming a full time academic, Professor Gordon spent 25 years in the corporate sector where he held senior leadership positions in the fields of general management, marketing and sales, technology, and engineering management. Both as a corporate professional and academic Professor Gordon worked extensively in Australia, Asia, UK, US, and Europe.

Professor Dr. Raymond Gordon was appointed to the position of Vice Chancellor and President of the British University Vietnam in February 2018. Professor Gordon is not only an experienced leader in higher education but is also an accomplished academic with extensive teaching and research experience at universities throughout the world. Professor Rick Bennett

Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President

Raised and educated in London, Rick completed undergraduate studies in the Fine Arts before working for 7 years within the UK film & television industry specialising in TV commercials and music video production.
After emigrating to Australia in 1990, Rick worked at the University of New South Wales (in Sydney) where for 24 years he was based within the School of Design Studies before leading a new online education department and managing the curriculum design and teaching of more than 40 fully online courses in art and design, ultimately leading to production of the first fully-online Masters (coursework) program at UNSW.
Rick’s research over the last 20 years has explored advances in digital technology and the interdependence between design professions and design education and potentials for online offerings. This resulted in invitations to numerous talks worldwide, significant research grants and publications, as well as prestigious awards. Notably, in 2004, he was awarded the Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools – Australian Teacher of the Year.
In 2015, Rick relocated to Vietnam as Dean, School of Communication & Design at RMIT University. In 2018, he was later appointed as RMIT Vietnam Executive Dean (Academic & Students) before moving to the British University Vietnam (BUV) in 2022, as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President.

Nguyen Thi Vinh Thuy

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Operations)
Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Thuy Nguyen is passionate about the FDI sector and commits her career to supporting and contributing to Businesses that invest in Vietnam’s future. She brings over 15 years of project development, business operations experience, and expertise to British University Vietnam, where she serves as Chief Operating Officer. She is a member of the Senior Executives Team responsible for the University’s strategic development, growth, and expansion. She spearheads and leads its operational function activities to keep the business on target and on track. Before working at BUV, Thuy worked seven years at Indochina Capital (ICC), one of Vietnam’s leading real estate advisory, investment and development companies, where she advanced through various senior positions to manage the entire life cycle (from licensing, construction through to asset management and operation) of one of Vietnam’s first and most high-end premium complex valued at about US$200M from scratch.
Ms. Thuy holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) and a Master’s degree in Economics in Economic Expertise and International Project Management from Université Paris 12.
Thuy is a licensed Real Estate Broker and Evaluator with certificates in Real Estate Trading, Floors Management and Operation, and Project Management Certificate.

Chris Jeffery

Pro-Vice Chancellor (International, Strategy & Engagement)

Chris has worked in Vietnam for 12 years, moving from Bayes Business School, City University London to Hanoi to help launch British University Vietnam in 2010 and has been heavily involved in growing it from 20 students to 2,000, developing a value-added skills element to all students as well as being a team member for the new campus development and leading launching new programmes, Vietnamese qualifications as well as UK degrees. Chris was previously faculty and managed/taught at Bayes (formerly Cass) Business School, City University, London, where he started teaching management to undergraduates, then covering admissions and international partnerships for all management courses. In 2002 Chris was appointed director of the Executive MBA programme at Cass and, over a period of 8 years, redesigned the programme content and structure, launched new models of study and crafted a world-class international offering. Over the 8 years, Chris and the team grew the programme to number 10 in the world as ranked by the Financial Times.
Before joining academia, Chris worked at the BBC political unit in London on several programmes and projects, including general election coverage, budgets and European elections.
Chris is also an active member of BritCham Vietnam and is presently its National Chair, and before that, it’s Vice-Chair, representing British Business to Governments at all levels up to and including Prime Ministerial. Chris is also a Board Member of the Vietnam Business Forum.
Within his roles outside of BUV, Chris sits on advisory boards as well as makes frequent media appearances talking about UK/Vietnam political and business affairs.

Assoc. Professor Jason MacVaugh

Associate Professor and Dean (Higher Education)

Born in the United States but raised and educated in the Cayman Islands and the United Kingdom, Jason completed a BSc in Business Management from N.C. State University. Following graduation in 2000 he was employed in both in the UK and the USA banking sectors. In 2002, he completed an MSc in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from Brunel, and subsequently in 2003, won a studentship for a PhD in Knowledge Management. In 2007, Jason took a position at the University of Gloucestershire where he completed his PhD thesis in 2009. Jason’s career includes teaching and research activities across international locations including: Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the USA, Italy and Tunisia.
Jason in a keen Teaching and Learning champion; winning a HEA National Teaching Fellowship in 2011, multiple faculty teaching and learning excellence awards, and publishing Pedagogic research alongside his disciplinary work in Innovation and Human Resource Management.

Tony Summers

University Registrar

Tony made the move to academia in 2006 after a successful 30 year career as a senior manager in the ICT sector. With extensive professional experience in the many facets of business including business development, sales, marketing, operations, supply-chain and general management, Tony brings a wealth of corporate knowledge to his roles in the Higher Education sector. Moving to Vietnam in 2011 Tony joined British University Vietnam as one of its first lecturers. Over twelve years he has progressed through the roles of Lecturer, Programme Leader, Senior Lecturer in Management, Deputy Chief Academic Officer, and latterly accepting the position of University Registrar as part of the University Senior Leadership Team. The role of University Registrar focuses on university-wide academic quality throughout the whole student journey including admissions, academic conduct, student assessment, student records and graduations.
“In my role I ensure everything we do at BUV meets the finest possible standards of quality and I enjoy working closely with the Learning and Teaching teams to give our students the opportunity to graduate and secure through their hard work a truly worthwhile, internationally recognised credential to enhance their future careers and to benefit society as a whole.”
Tony is currently studying for a doctorate with a triple accredited Business School and the focus of his research is Student Identity and Sense of Belonging within the Higher Education sector.

Vo Hong Hanh

Director, Marketing & Communications

Ms. Vo Hong Hanh began her career in 2002, and when she applied to Oracle Vietnam in 2004, she soon realised she was interested in sales and marketing. She was quickly recognised and promoted to Education Sales Manager at Oracle Vietnam a few years before being nominated for the role of Marketing Manager. Hanh was Oracle’s first Vietnamese Marketing Manager after 13 years of operation in Vietnam. She departed Oracle in late 2012 after receiving her Postgraduate Degree in Marketing from Solvay Business School (ULB) in order to pursue opportunities outside of IT. She was offered and accepted various Marketing and Business Development positions at Flame Media, Vingroup, and Techcombank prior to joining BUV in May 2015 as a member of the Student Recruitment Department.
Ms. Hanh has been with BUV for close to nine years and has led the Student Recruitment & Institutional Partnerships team to meet considerable new student recruitment goals and expand the recruiting channels and markets. She was appointed Director of Marketing, Communications, and Student Recruitment in May 2022, supervising Marketing & Communications as well as Student Recruitment & Institutional Partnerships. “Our mission at BUV is to inform and motivate young students to nurture their dreams, pursue their passion, and be their best selves.”, she said.

Ms. Huong is a Human Resources leader with nearly 20 years of substantial professional experience leading multinational organizations in both profit and non-profit sectors. Ms. Huong joined BUV in late 2017 and is responsible for the university’s overall human resources strategy, encompassing talent acquisition, leadership development, organizational and cultural development, employee education and development, compensation and benefits, HR operations and technology, employee relations, and business continuity planning.
In her role as the Human Resources Director, she serves as an HR business partner, collaborating with leaders from all divisions and functions to nurture and oversee a capable workforce that can effectively support the university’s strategies, goals, plans, and adapt to its ever-changing demands.
Ms. Huong is a certified Coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language and International Studies and a Master of Arts in Business with distinction from the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Austria.

Mr. Chau has been the Director of Finance and Accounting at British University Vietnam (BUV) since 2019.
Prior to joining BUV, he was an experienced financial leader in a variety of organizations, including Big 4 advisory firms and real estate companies. He is a member of ACCA and CPA.
His role is critical and well-regarded for strengthening BUV’s financial foundation to ensure sustainable growth and improve the University’s capital efficiency.
Mr. Chau has been the Director of Finance and Accounting at British University Vietnam (BUV) since 2019.

Nguyen Kim Dung

Director, Legal and Government Affairs

Kim Dung is a licensed lawyer and an accredited mediator. She became the Head of Legal and Government Relations for BUV in May 2012. She is responsible for providing legal counsel on the educational developments and operations of the University. Before joining BUV, she has over 18 years of experience providing legal services and consultancy in foreign investment in the Automobile industry and Medical Services. Kim Dung holds a Master’s degree in Law and is currently pursuing a PhD in Law at the Vietnam National University. Kim Dung’s research focus is on the development of policy for the private education sector in Vietnam. She is an active member of the Law Composing Panel of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. Her work on opening private education policy is reflected in the 2018 and 2019 reforms to the law on higher education, which was certified by the Merit Award of the Minister of Education and Training in 2019.

Ta Ha Lan

Head, Student Engagement

Ms. Ta Ha Lan began her journey with BUV in 2016 when she started as Manager for the Department of Student Experience, Placements and Alumni.
Her responsibilities encompass a wide spectrum of student affairs, including overseeing clubs and societies, students’ career development and employability, corporate networks, with the ultimate aim of ensuring that BUV students have a fulfilling and enjoyable university experience while equipping them with the essential skills needed to thrive as future global citizens.
Prior to her tenure at BUV, Lan accumulated extensive experience across various domains, including Marketing, Hospitality, Event Operations and Management, and Partnership Development, within international organizations such as International Data Group (IDG), KinderWorld Education Group, JW Marriott, and the British Chamber of Commerce.
Throughout her eight-year tenure at BUV, Lan has gained experience across all facets of academic operations and student experience. In her current role as Head of Student Engagement, her primary focus is on enhancing the overall experience and engagement of the student body at BUV, with a particular emphasis on non-academic aspects within the university

Luong Khanh Luong

Head, Institutional Partnership and Development

Mr. Luong has more than 17 years of working experience in higher education and training. He previously worked for the National Academy of Education Management, MOET Vietnam, in the position of Deputy Head of the International Cooperation and Project Development Office, with core responsibilities in developing and implementing professional development and capacity-building projects for Vietnamese education managers, teachers and stakeholders in both public and private sectors.
At BUV, Mr. Luong oversees Training Centre for English and Management Skills’ development and strategic partnerships and linkages as well as provision of BUV training programmes to external partners. Luong’s roles are to manage operation of IELTS at BUV and partner high schools, Cambridge A-Level Programmes at Chu Van An High School in Hanoi, and executive education meeting the needs of various stakeholders and industries.
Mr. Luong has more than 17 years of working experience in higher education and training. With 18 years of experience, Ms. Giang is a proven expert in sales and marketing management, sales training, people development and scaling up operations in prominent companies both state owned and foreign invested. She possess exceptional skills in multi-channel sales such as B2B and B2C engagement, as well as international market development, covering 30 countries worldwide.

Le Duc Minh

Senior Manager, Legal & Compliance

Before joining BUV in November 2016, Minh spent 6 years as an Associate at a reputable foreign law firm in Vietnam, where he advised MNEs on their investment projects in Vietnam (including, but not limited to, building up their commercial presence, M&A, restructuring, labour concerns, and other legal topics). His areas of competence include investment law, business law, and education law. Minh is an LLM holder with distinction graduating from the Master of Laws in International Trade and Economic Law programme at the University of the West of England.
At BUV, Minh’s primary role is to provide strategic legal & compliance advice, guidance and counsel to the VC and the management team, ensuring the University and its departments operate legally and ethically while meeting business goals. In addition, he is also responsible for developing legal compliance programmes, reviewing company policies, and advising management on possible legal risks.

Nguyen Thai Vuong

Senior Manager, Campus Facilities and Services

After graduating from the National Economics University, Vuong gained a diverse range of experiences working in various sectors throughout Vietnam. Over the years, he served as a Team Leader in Customer Services for four years, contributed to the F&B industry for two years, engaged in Urban Management for four years, delved into Logistics for three years, and undertook Facilities and Operation Management for five years.
In 2019, Vuong joined BUV and assumed responsibility for overseeing campus renovations and day-to-day operations. This encompassed tasks such as infrastructure and technical supervision, as well as managing campus services. His role extended to the supervision of daily system operations, periodic maintenance, identification and resolution of faults, and the implementation and documentation of campus operating standards. Furthermore, he was in charge of establishing operational guidelines, site safety plans, and policies and procedures pertaining to outsourced services.

She has held a variety of positions in charge of diverse marketing areas, including event and activation, customer experience, branding, and digital MKT. Prior to joining VinFast as Branding Manager to support the brand launch in its infancy, she was a well-respected project leader at General Motors with a track record of successfully completing large-scale Marketing and branding initiatives.
In 2019, Hai changed her career path to hospitality in order to assist international brands such as Wyndham and Eastin Grand in opening new hotels in Vietnam by implementing intensive branding campaigns. Her most recent position was Cluster Head of Marketing for one of Vietnam’s largest five-star resort brands.
Hai obtained a Master of Business Administration in International Business Administration from Nice Sophia Antipolis University.

Tran Thi Hoa

Senior Manager, Procurement

Ms. Hoa is a senior manager with over 16 years of experience in supply chain management in multinational organizations. She has advanced skills in purchasing management regarding setting up business plans, strategy, budget control, managing purchasing/logistics activities, and import-export operations.

Ms. Hoa joined BUV in late 2021 and is responsible for leading and driving the successful implementation of the university’s overall procurement operation strategy. In her role as the Senior Procurement Manager, she oversees all procurement processes, strategies, and vendor management to ensure the effectiveness of goods and services supply for the university in terms of quality, delivery, and cost.

With over 11 years of work experience in international organisations, of which 7 years in the Higher education sector, as BUV International Office Manager, Hien manages all partnership links with international institutions and educational partners and oversees all global engagement activities for the University.
