BUV Brings Accredited British Education Closer to Myanmar’s Youth 22:08:57

A new agreement between British University Vietnam and Scholastic International School Myanmar is set to bring world-class UK education nearer to young learners in Southeast Asia, expanding access to transnational learning and meaningful international exposure right within the region.

A Partnership for Southeast Asia’s Next Generation

Recently, British University Vietnam (BUV) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Scholastic International School Myanmar (SISM), creating clearer pathways for Myanmar students to pursue high-quality UK education.

Under this partnership, students who complete the IGCSE Programme at SISM will be able to progress directly into the University of London International Foundation Programme (IFP) at BUV. This seamless transition paves the way toward bachelor’s degrees offered by top-ranked universities in the UK and worldwide.

SISM students beginning their IFP journey at BUV in 2026 will also be eligible for scholarships of up to 50%.

The agreement reflects the shared vision of both institutions to broaden access to high-quality education, strengthen academic exchange between Vietnam and Myanmar, and build a vibrant, multicultural learning environment in Southeast Asia.

SISM, a reputable international secondary school in Myanmar, delivers high-quality academic programmes designed to inspire lifelong learning, foster independent thinking, and cultivate global citizenship.

We always look for partners who share our mission of making high-quality international education more accessible and supporting students’ holistic growth,” said Aye Chan, Founder and CEO of SISM. “With BUV’s proven excellence in its programmes, facilities, and teaching quality, we believe our students will enjoy an authentic UK education experience, close to home yet truly global in essence.”

For BUV, this is its first official partnership in Myanmar, marking an important milestone in its internationalisation strategy and reinforcing its vision to become a leading international university in Vietnam and the surrounding region.

Matt Jansen, Head of International Student Recruitment at BUV, noted: “BUV attracts international students not only for its strong academic reputation but also for the wider opportunities it offers in a country experiencing rapid growth. We believe this partnership will open an exciting new pathway for Myanmar’s youth to pursue UK degrees and scholarships in a dynamic country like Vietnam.”

A Compelling Destination for Regional Students

As part of the partnership launch, 18 students from SISM participated in BUV’s Culture Immersion Programme. They explored the university’s international-standard learning environment and gained firsthand insights into life, culture, and career opportunities in Vietnam.

“This was an incredibly knowledgeable, informative, and deeply purposeful experience,” shared student Ariel (Khoon Thiri Ko). “The trip helped me understand Vietnam’s culture, people, and everyday life in a way that I will always remember.”

BUV continues to strengthen its reputation as a top study destination in the region. It is the first and only university in Vietnam to maintain an overall QS 5-Star rating for six consecutive years (2022–2028), and the first in ASEAN and the only one in Vietnam to be awarded global quality accreditation by the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

Recently, BUV was also named among the Top 5 most favorite universities in Vietnam among international students by EduOpinions, a globally trusted platform gathering reviews from millions of students worldwide.

By expanding its global partnerships and increasing its presence in key markets, BUV aims to offer more young people the chance to study in a dynamic, international academic environment in Vietnam, a country rapidly emerging on the regional education map. Moving forward, BUV will continue to provide robust support to help students transition smoothly into high-quality degree programmes and build strong foundations for their future academic and career success.
