New BUV partnership with startup-driven Indian university to advance innovation and entrepreneurship 21:56:13

British University Vietnam (BUV) has taken another significant step in expanding its global academic network by establishing a new strategic partnership with Swarrnim Startup & Innovation University (SSIU), India. This collaboration reflects BUV’s continued commitment to fostering cross-border academic engagement and strengthening educational ties between Vietnam and India.

The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), laying the foundation for future cooperation across key areas including student and faculty exchange, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects, student mobility initiatives, and joint research. Through these shared efforts, both institutions aim to create meaningful international learning opportunities that prepare students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.

SSIU is a private university with a strong focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup-driven education. The university integrates practical, industry-linked learning and incubation support into its academic programmes, fostering an interdisciplinary learning environment that connects education with real-world applications and aims to nurture future-ready graduates with entrepreneurial mindsets.

Commenting on the significance of the collaboration, Mr. Jiten Thakkar, Incubation Manager of SSIU shared: “SSIU assesses this partnership with BUV as a highly strategic and value-driven collaboration that aligns strongly with our institutional vision of innovation-led education and global engagement. SSIU views this collaboration as a platform that goes beyond a short-term academic visit and serves as a foundation for long-term international cooperation.”

Ms Hien Nguyen, Head of International Mobility and Partnerships at BUV, emphasised that innovation and entrepreneurship are core pillars of the University’s academic strategy: “Innovation is embedded across our teaching, learning, and industry engagement activities. This partnership with SSIU creates valuable opportunities for students to collaborate across cultures, explore entrepreneurship, and apply their knowledge in practical, real-world contexts. Through these experiences, we aim to equip students with the global competencies needed for their academic and professional success.”

As part of the partnership, a group of SSIU students is currently participating in a culture immersion programme at BUV, with a strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. A key highlight of the programme is an Entrepreneurship and Startup Hackathon, where students engage in experiential learning and cross-cultural collaboration to develop creative solutions to real-world challenges.

This partnership with SSIU represents BUV’s sixth academic collaboration in India, reaffirming the University’s strategic focus on strengthening educational ties with one of Asia’s most dynamic higher education ecosystems.

The new partnership also contributes to the expansion of BUV’s broader international network, which currently includes 74 partner institutions across 18 countries on 5 continents. These collaborations enable both Vietnamese and international students to enhance their academic excellence, expand global industry networks, and develop the cross-cultural competencies essential for their future careers and lives. They also support BUV’s vision of becoming the leading international university in Vietnam and the surrounding region.
