BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and Staffordshire University. POSITION PURPOSE

The Officer, Communications is responsible for implementing strategic communications and maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders to enhance the university’s reputation and visibility both externally and internally. You will effectively convey key messages by excelling in crafting compelling narratives & strategic content, managing media channels, and organising impactful events. Your adeptness at prioritising tasks and monitoring PR effectiveness ensures alignment with organizational goals and contributes significantly to the institution’s success.  

You will be collaborating with Team Leader, PR & Communications Manager and university-wide colleagues, students, PR agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the planning, production, and execution of PR campaigns. 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Public Relations: 

  • Strategic Content Writing and Editing: Create extra high-quality content for Vietnamese-language documents, articles, press releases, and other PR materials, tailored to the objectives and audience of each campaign; 
  • Support implementing PR strategies to enhance the university’s image, and maintain positive media relationships by providing accurate and engaging information about the university’s activities; 
  • Event Management: Organize and execute communication and PR events such as press conferences, commemorations, and other communication activities to enhance awareness of the university;
  • Monitoring and Measurement: Monitor the effectiveness of PR campaigns and propose improvement measures based on feedback and data; 
  • Work closely with PR agencies to ensure that project timelines are met and deliverables align with the university’s communication goals.  

Other External & Internal Communications:  

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment and consistency in external communication efforts; 
  • Support developing guidelines or protocols to standardise messaging and branding across all departments;  
  • Support implementing internal communication materials; 
  • Other ad-hoc assigned tasks by the line manager.  

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS 

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities) 

Essential  

  • Having a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications and related majors;  
  • PR & Communications experience (3 – 4 years) is highly appreciated, preferably within a complex, fast-moving organization; especially experience in journalism with similar skill sets and approaches can be a preferable attribute; 
  • Proficiency in English, combined with a strategic mindset in public relations.

  • Teamwork & Collaboration: to work effectively with others to accomplish team goals and objectives;

  • Experience in education is an asset;

  • Ability to sense a bigger picture behind every story and be able to help translate it to relevant and engaging content for multi-stakeholders.
