BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and Staffordshire University. BUV is rated a 5 Star university of excellence by the world-recognised QS accreditor and is also recognised with a university-wide accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).

POSITION PURPOSE

The SE Executive (Career Activities) is in charge of career activities and events to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the students’ experience relating to Career development and employability skills. He or she is also responsible to provide an excellent customer service to our students, lecturers, parents and partners at British University Vietnam. The role is subject to change depending on the needs of the University.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Career & Employment Services
  • Participate in planning and designing effective career programme for students;
  • Plan and execute the career events such as weekly workshops, career fairs, orientation sessions, company tours and field trips field trips to different organisations;
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic department to support students in out-of-class activities that professionally complement to their academic modules and curriculum;
  • Advertise and market the careers activities within the University and with BUV partners, parents, prospective students and parents;
  • Ensure accurate and timely update of information including career activities and events, workshops…via Emails, Website, Facebook and Notice Boards;
  • Maintain and update the record and filing system of each student’s personal development portfolio;
  • Ensure quality customer services & timely responses to a variety of written requests from students and parents for information relating to career services via telephone, correspondence and/or electronic mail.
  1. Operation & Administration
  • Together with other team members, be a Career Services & Industry Relations representative to promote and increase; awareness of students, employers, lecturers, parents, and other stakeholders in and out of BUV Campus about the services’ presence and values;
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of personal career services…via Emails, Website, Facebook and Notice Boards;
  • Database: Maintain and improve the database of activities and attendance that enables capturing the university’s activities, student’s development journey and collaborations between the university and industry partners;
  • Record & Filling system: Maintain and update the record and filing system of the activities and each student’s personal development portfolio and career progressions;
  • Customer Services: Ensure quality customer services & timely responses to a variety of written requests from students and parents for information relating to career services via telephone, correspondence and/or electronic mail;
  • Administration: Assist in the administration of the operations of Career Services in charge.
  1. Others
  • Participate and support other extra-curricular activities of the department;
  • Assist the department in preparing periodic reports and newsletter updates for Management and the University;
  • Assist the Student Engagement Division in other areas when the need arises;
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing & Communication, Talent Development, and Education related majors.
  • Experience in designing and organising training programmes and events, especially careers & skill development related events for university students and young people (18-30 years old), such as Career Fair, career talks, skill workshops, etc.
  • Knowledge of Career and occupational resources, labour market trends, opportunities, people development skills.
  • Excellent project coordination and management, facilitating and hosting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with different stakeholders, especially young people between the age of 18-30.
  • Content writing skills for writing up posts/content for social media, recaps, scripts.
  • Basic designing skills (such as Canva, Photoshop)
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Vietnamese with the ability to correct English and Vietnamese usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Proficient Computer literacy in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Desirable

  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional qualification related to one or a few of the following areas: Training, Facilitating, Talent Development, and Career Guidance.
  • Experience in Learning & Development and People Development.
  • Experience in using technology to enhance and scale up service delivery.
  • Constantly keep updated of the labour market trends from a diverse range of resources.
