BUV donates 100 million VND to the “Covid-19 Disease Prevention Fund” of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front 09:37:13

On May 12th, 2020, British University Vietnam (BUV) donated 100 million VND to the “Covid-19 Disease Prevention Fund” of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front. This is the result of many meaningful activities from BUV students, lecturers, staff and the Vietnamese community through two campaigns: “You train, BUV donates” and “Keep moving forward”.

Joining the event was Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Anh – Vice Chairman of  the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, together with representatives from the Propaganda and Training Commission, from the Committee Activities Division and other representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front  and  Prof. Dr.Raymond Gordon – President of BUV, Mr.Christopher Jeffery – Chief Academic Officer of BUV, Ms. Ta Ha Lan – Senior Manager, Student Experience, Placements and Alumni and representatives of BUV students.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected many people’s lives: Our work and study has been interrupted, life has turned upside down, production and business activities have been delayed, and high school students and parents feel anxious about their future study plans,…

With the aim of creating a positive and optimistic mindset to push everyone forward and spread good vibes, as well as encouraging people to stay healthy and call for donations, BUV kicked off two campaigns: the home fitness campaign “You train, BUV donates” and the spreading good vibes campaign “Keep moving forward”.

The campaign “You train, BUV donates” lasted for 10 days with the principle that “Every push-up, squat or crunch performed can be converted into a cash donation by BUV to the fund for Covid-19 Prevention”. This donation campaign, as well as encouraging BUV-ers to stay fit and spread the message to the public, raised 40 million VND.

BUV Students enthusiastically join “You train, BUV donates” campaign

When the epidemic was initially successfully controlled in Vietnam and social distancing was eased, although life begin to back to normal, many individuals still needed support after the heavy effects of the disease. BUV continues to launch a second campaign called “Keep moving forward” with the desire to spread positive and optimistic messages to the community. With each Facebook post that shared a positive message, each individual contributed VND 100,000 to the Covid-19 Disease Prevention Fund. This campaign has received the support of many BUV students, lecturers, staff as well as other participants, raising 60 million VND.

After 20 days of implementing two exciting campaigns, BUV has raised a total of 100 million VND to present to the representativse of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front on May 12, 2020.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Anh – Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front shared: “The mission of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee is to connect hearts and call for the strength of the people to respond to the Government’s guidelines in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic. We really appreciate the sharing of BUV in particular, and of foreign enterprises in Vietnam in general, in empowering us to beat the disease. BUV has inspired and trained a generation of young students who are both talented and responsible to the country in difficult circumstances. We are committed to using this money effectively to create social strength to support individuals and households affected by Covid, helping people to overcome difficulties, restore production and stabilize their life soon. We would like to wish BUV to continue developing and contributing to the training of high quality human resources for Vietnam ”.

Prof.Dr. Raymond Gordon, the President of BUV, affirmed: “We are honored to raise funds contributing a small part to support individuals and organizations affected by Covid-19. The Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected not only Vietnam but the whole world. Being the first and only international university in Vietnam, with 100% foreign invested capital, to award degrees directly from the UK, BUV wants to create a new generation of discoverers, explorers and creative thinkers who are educated, trained, and prepared to thrive in future (4IR) fields of work and life and also are responsible for society, community and the country, ready to cope with difficult situations. “

On 11th May 2020, BUV Ecopark Campus welcomed students back to campus with normal academic activities. Although the Government has eased social distancing, BUV still strictly enforces preventive measures to ensure safety for students, lecturers and school staff.

In addition to such measures including checking body temperatures, disinfecting hands and encouraging students to wear masks in public places implemented every day, BUV also uses paper bracelets to identify those who have undergone medical checks. Positive messages continue to be spread strongly among BUV’s students, faculty, and staff community.
