British University Vietnam Honored as Leading Educational Institution in AI Application 09:56:02

With clear strategy and long-term vision, BUV not only provide 5-star accredited learning environment, but also contributes to shaping standards for responsible AI use in education in Vietnam and the region.

British University Vietnam (BUV) has officially won the Leading Educational Institution in AI Application award within the framework of AI Awards Vietnam 2025, surpassing more than 160 participating submissions. This achievement affirms BUV’s pioneering position in applying artificial intelligence to higher education, placing the university among Vietnam’s leading organizations in developing and applying innovative AI solutions.

Assoc. Prof. Ali Al-Dulaimi, Head of School, School of Computing & Innovative Technologies, receives the award on behalf of BUV

AI Awards Vietnam, directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and co-organized by VnExpress, is an annual award aimed at honoring outstanding products and solutions applying artificial intelligence (AI) in production and daily life.

In previous years, the awards primarily focused on the Product and Solution categories. This year, however, three new categories have been introduced: Vietnam AI Talent, Outstanding AI Device, and Exemplary AI Enterprise. This expansion not only recognizes outstanding individuals and honors pioneering enterprises but also encourages the development of AI-powered devices, contributing to the integration of artificial intelligence into daily life and fostering the growth of Vietnam’s AI ecosystem.

The evaluation process is rigorous, consisting of three rounds: Preliminary, Voting, and Jury Assessment. In the Final Round, individuals and organizations delivered presentations before the Jury Panel. The final score is determined by 70% from the Jury Panel and 30% from audience votes.

AI Awards 2025 is a practical initiative in response to Resolution 57 of the Political Bureau, aiming to accelerate breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. At the same time, the awards serve as a source of inspiration for creativity, encourage new ideas, promote scientific research, and contribute to building a sustainable AI ecosystem, while expanding AI applications across all areas of life—helping to shape the future in an era of national growth and progress.

The event attracted a large number of experts and businesses interested in Vietnam’s future in the global AI race

AI Awards Vietnam emphasizes criteria such as: Creativity and uniqueness in AI application; Differentiation and superiority compared to similar products in the market; Practical application and ability to solve business problems; Positive impact on people, society, and business production; Deployment capability and scalability of applications.

BUV possesses a comprehensive AI ecosystem applied across all aspects of operations. In learning programs, BUV pioneered bringing to Vietnam the Bachelor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program awarded by the University of Stirling (UK), an institution whose Computer Science program ranks in the top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction. BUV also implements comprehensive AI Skills Enhancement Programs for staff and faculty from basic to advanced levels.

In teaching, BUV students use many AI applications including: The Codio platform – an AI tool used by MIT and Cambridge, being the first and only one used in Vietnam at BUV – serving programming education with automatic grading and plagiarism detection; Imagine Explainer for visualizing complex concepts; GDevelop connecting theory and practice through game development, etc.

In student services, AI Chatbots operate 24/7, processing 5,000 queries/month with 60% higher efficiency than manual handling, providing instant information about academic programs and procedures. In academic management, BUV’s big data analytics project early detects at-risk students to personalize learning pathways.

Besides applying the world’s most advanced AI platforms, BUV also independently develops many AI applications and “exports” them worldwide, such as EduGrade AI for grade review ensuring consistency among faculty, and AIAS (AI Assessment Scale) – a 5-level AI assessment framework adopted by 300 global organizations, winning the 2024 Tracey Bretag Award.

The exhibition area showcasing BUV’s achievements in applying AI in education drew significant attention from attendees at the AI4VN event

To scale AI application knowledge to the community, BUV collaborates with the Ministry of Education and Training and Hanoi Department of Education and Training to implement annual training for thousands of senior officials, principals, and teachers. The university also expands civil servant training programs on AI in public administration, healthcare, and transportation in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Academy of Education Management, etc.

On the international arena, BUV is the only Vietnamese university participating in the United Nations University’s Global AI Network, fulfilling the mission of cooperating with universities, businesses, policymakers, and social organizations globally to exploit AI’s potential for common benefit.

Associate Professor Ali Al-Dulaimi, Head of the School of Computing & Innovative Technologies at BUV, said: “As part of the 5-star accredited learning environment, BUV pioneers in developing and using AI platforms as one of the powerful tools for education methodologies. Students, from AI learners and users, will be nurtured and trained to maintain proactive positions in the future, gradually leading AI-enhanced improvements beneficial to the market. Vietnam possesses abundant potential to become an intelligence-exporting nation, and AI-driven education will accelerate the roadmap to turn that vision into reality.”

Ms. Bui Thanh Van, Head of the Organizing Committee of AI4VN 2025, stated, “We highly regard BUV’s efforts in applying and integrating AI into research and teaching. The university has established a strategic direction that goes beyond simply adding new subjects, making AI a core pillar across all aspects of its operations. These initiatives affirm BUV’s position not only as a leading educational institution in AI in Vietnam, but also as one that fully leverages technology to enhance quality, ensure fairness, and foster the comprehensive development of students’ capabilities in the digital era.”
