BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and Staffordshire University. BUV is rated a 5 Star university of excellence by the world-recognised QS accreditor and is also recognised with a university-wide accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the management, development, promotion of learning resource centre to ensure that faculty and students have access to resources including e-material and printed material.

This role encompasses sourcing educational materials, delivering training sessions, and fostering an environment conducive to independent learning.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Provide access of materials to students, lecturers and colleagues including eBooks, e-library, databases, printed reference books and other facilities. Solve complex and diverse problems relating to circulation and information services on a daily basis. Ensure the library maintain a welcoming atmosphere for users and visitors.

  • Resource Accessibility: Provide ongoing support to students, lecturers, and colleagues in accessing a wide range of learning materials, including eBooks, e-library databases, printed reference books and other library facilities. Address diverse challenges related to circulation and information services on a daily basic.
  • Training and documentation: Develop comprehensive documentation and training materials to facilitate the effective utilization of learning materials and library facilities by students, lecturers, and staff. Deliver training sessions to various user groups as needed.
  • Procurement and Coordination: Collaborate with faculty, departments, and external suppliers to procure textbooks, databases, iPads, and other educational materials in a timely manner. Manage relationships with suppliers and publishers, ensuring smooth acquisition processes and timely payments.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with partner universities and faculty members to manage blackboard accounts, library usage and integrate materials into learning management systems (LMS). Prepare, maintain, and provide statistical reports on resource usage and other relevant metrics.
  • Budget Management: Manage and utilise budget to ensure the provision and delivery of learning materials.
  • Operational Duties: Operate Library Management System (Koha) effectively, including data input, resource issuance and return, reservations management, and stock checks. Ensure the learning resource center maintains a modern, inviting environment for users and visitors.
  • Library Projects: Participate in library projects as assigned by the line manager.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the management team.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Essential

  • Vietnamese national
  • Holder of bachelor’s degree preferably in Education/relevant subject
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in English and Vietnamese
  • Computer literacy – MS office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and library management software and digital resource platform
  • Good team worker
  • An appropriate manner for dealing with staff and students

Desirable

  • At least 1-year experience in similar position or in educational organisation or in a service institution
  • Able to work under high pressure
  • An ability to cope with interruptions while concentrating on diverse task
