Assoc. Prof. Anchit Bijalwan recently delivered a specialised technical workshop titled “Integrating Digital Forensics and Crowd Surveillance for Healthcare Data in Epidemic Prediction” as part of a 5-day programme sponsored by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), taking place from 20–25 October. The workshop forms a key component of the event’s broader theme, “Digital Forensic Investigations of Healthcare Data in Cloud Computing,” which concludes on 25 October.
The session introduced participants to emerging methods that combine digital forensics with crowd surveillance technologies to enhance epidemic prediction and public health preparedness. Digital forensics techniques were explored as a way to analyse electronic health records, cloud-based systems, and social media footprints to uncover early signals of abnormal health patterns. In parallel, the workshop examined how crowd surveillance tools such as sensors, monitoring devices, and population-flow analytics can provide real-time insights into community behaviour and potential risk clusters.
A core focus of the session was the integration of these datasets to strengthen outbreak forecasting, improve the speed and accuracy of health-response planning, and enable more effective allocation of medical resources. Participants also discussed associated challenges, including privacy protection, data governance, and ensuring the reliability of large, heterogeneous datasets.
The AICTE sponsorship underscores the growing significance of interdisciplinary research and capacity building in fields that bridge artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and public health. By supporting initiatives of this kind, AICTE enables educators, researchers, and practitioners to advance knowledge in high-impact areas that directly contribute to national and global health resilience.
