2021 is a tough year when Vietnam, and the world in general have been impacted by covid-19, natural catastrophes including flood and landslides. In order to spread compassion for others, with the principle “No one is left behind”, of the Vietnamese Government, BUV has launched a donation campaign to call for support, sharing and lending hands towards the community.

The campaign named “Wear a BUV hoody to warm up Central Vietnam” occurring from 1/12/2020, has received a lot of advocates not only within BUV staff and student’s community, but also other individuals and organisations. With each item, everyone will donate a specific amount to the relief fund.

1 month after launching the campaign, the contribution amounted to 50 million VND, which will be transferred together with 195 hoodies, representing 80 million VND to the CCVFF.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Sinh shared that the mission of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee is to connect with people and to call for the strengths of the public to respond to the Government’s guidelines in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic. He also stated that: “We sincerely appreciate the  support of BUV in assisting us to fight against the pandemic, and also give people in Central Vietnam a lending hand to return to normality after catastrophe. We are committed to using this money effectively to create communal strengths to overcome difficulties in these challenging times.”

Also, at the event, Professor Dr. Ray Gordon affirmed that: “BUV are honored to raise funds to contribute a small part in supporting the “Covid-19 Disease Prevention Fund” as well as helping people in Central Vietnam to resolve the situation. Being the first and only international university in Vietnam, with 100% foreign invested capital, to award degrees directly from the UK, BUV wants to create a new generation of discoverers, explorers and creative thinkers who are educated, trained, and prepared to thrive in future (4IR) fields of work and life and also are responsible for society, community and the country, ready to cope with difficult situations.”

In 2020, BUV donated 100 million VND to the “Covid-19 Disease Prevention Fund” of CCVFF. In addition to campaigns such as Hoodies donation, BUV student clubs also often execute some humanitarian activities to share and help local communities.
