On Sunday, October 31, 2021, an employee of British University Vietnam (BUV) tested positive for COVID-19. The employee works in an administrative role in our campus in Ecopark, Van Giang, Hung Yen and is currently under quarantine and receiving medical treatment.

We understand that this news may cause concern to our students and their parents, people in the surrounding regions, our business partners, all staff, and their families.

We would like to inform you that at BUV, teaching has been conducted online and students have not been required to attend campus since May 4, 2021. BUV has been taking measures in cooperation with the public health center to ensure the safety of our students, business partners, and employees as our top priority. Up to date, ninety-nine percent of all BUV employees and eighty-five percent of all BUV students have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine. This has significantly reduced the risk of infection and provided the safest learning and working environment for the University’s community.

The following actions are being taken in accordance with instructions from Van Giang Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Van Giang CDC):

Actions implemented immediately:

  1. Reported to Hung Yen Provincial Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  2. The Campus has been closed until further notice for thorough cleaning and disinfecting and to prevent the spread of infection.
  3. All employees have been instructed to work from home. Our students have been studying online and will continue to do so.
  4. We are tracing the movements of the employee in question and identifying people who had close contact.
  5. Employees who may have had close contact with the employee have been issued with instructions in accordance with Van Giang CDC.

Actions scheduled for implementation:

  1. All employees will be tested for COVID-19 or as instruction from authority.
  2. The Campus is undergoing additional disinfection measures before reopening.
  3. Students will continue to study online and will not attend the Campus.
  4. Teaching will carry on without interruption and students should continue to follow their timetable and join classes on the Canvas Learning Management System as normal.
  5. Going forward BUV will continue to work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 inside and outside the University placing top priority on the safety, health and well-being of all our students, business partners, employees and their families.

If you are not an employee of BUV and are identified as a categorized F1 in relation to BUV’s infected case by Van Giang CDC’s COVID-19 management system, we have been advised that you should inform your local Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to get guidance and support as regulated.

It is strongly advised that sharing speculative and/or inaccurate information related to this situation may cause unnecessary damage to BUV’s students, business partners, and employee as well as the University’s broader community. We would like to express our gratitude for your understanding.
