New Direct Admission Agreement Eases Path for BUV Alumni to Singapore Management University Postgraduate Studies 16:58:01

As this partnership unfolds, it promises to create a wealth of new possibilities for BUV’s students, alumni, and the broader community, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation in higher education. 

British University Vietnam (BUV) officially signed a partnership agreement with Singapore Management University (SMU) in early July. The agreement, marked by a formal signing ceremony, was attended by esteemed leaders from both institutions, including Professor Themin Suwardy Associate Provost (PGP Education) and Associate Professor of Accounting (Practice) from SMU, and Mr. Chris Jeffery Pro-Vice Chancellor (International, Strategy & Engagement), along with Associate Professor Jason MacVaugh Associate Professor and Dean (Higher Education) from BUV. This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in providing enhanced academic opportunities for students and fostering international collaboration.

One of the key features of the agreement is the fast-track route it offers BUV graduates to SMU’s prestigious postgraduate programmes. This pathway allows BUV alumni to seamlessly transition into advanced studies at one of Asia’s top universities, recognised globally for its academic excellence and innovative approach to education.

SMU, with a QS World University Ranking of #585 and a QS Southeast Asia University Ranking of #25, is renowned for its rigorous academic standards and industry-relevant curricula. BUV graduates will now have the opportunity to pursue Postgraduate Professional Programmes offered by SMU, including Master of IT in Business (MITB), Master of Science in Applied Finance (MAF), SMU Master of Science in Quantitative Finance (MQF), Master of Science in Entrepreneurship & Innovation (MEI), Master of Science in Management (MiM),   Master of Science in Economics (MSE), Master of Science in Financial Economics (MSFE),  Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) and Master of Science in Accounting (MSA). This partnership provides students with exceptional opportunities for global education and professional growth at a highly-ranked and competitive institution like SMU, offering a valuable proposition to talented graduate students in an increasingly competitive market.

The Memorandum of Understanding expresses the mutual intention of both parties to explore academic collaborations, student mobility, programme collaborations, and other mutually beneficial collaborations at BUV and SMU, including the Singapore Management University Representative Office in Vietnam. It also reflects a broader vision of creating a global network of opportunities for students, enabling them to gain international exposure and diverse perspectives that are crucial in today’s interconnected world.  

This collaboration is a testament to BUV’s commitment to continuously expanding its global partnerships. By forging alliances with prestigious institutions like SMU, BUV is dedicated to enhancing the educational journeys of its students, providing them with the best possible pathways to success.
