Various British University Vietnam (BUV) partner universities have excelled in The Guardian’s 2025 University Guide, with The London School of Economics and Political Science—BUV’s key awarding body—securing an impressive fourth place.
Long-term partnership with the top-ranked university
The Guardian recently released its 2025 University Guide, which showcases the impressive standings of various universities within the BUV partner network. Known for its rigorous evaluation, The Guardian is one of the most reliable national university rankings in the UK, alongside The Complete University Guide, The Times and The Sunday Times rankings.
Notably, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a member of the University of London (UoL) federation and a key awarding body for BUV, has secured an outstanding fourth place in the UK rankings.
Traditionally, LSE consistently ranks among the top global universities, often placing in the top 3 to top 10 across various rankings. It frequently appears in high positions in The Complete University Guide, The Times and The Sunday Times, The Guardian, and the QS World University Rankings.
Since the partnership with the UoL began in 2012, BUV has provided a variety of degree programmes, including Finance, Finance & Accounting, Business & Management, and Economics & Management. These programmes benefit from the academic direction and expertise of LSE, a key component of the UoL federation. In addition to these degrees, BUV is the exclusive provider of UoL’s International Foundation Programme (IFP) in Vietnam, further extending the reach of high-quality British education to Vietnamese students.
In recognition of BUV’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards, UoL recently granted BUV the Quality Certification Award, witnessed by the UK Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam – Marcus Winsley. The award underscores BUV’s role as a leading international teaching centre and highlights the institution’s dedication to delivering exceptional educational experiences.
The impact of this partnership is evident. As of the 2023 UoL exams, 8 out of 7,500 global students from BUV ranked in the top 25 worldwide, with one student achieving the highest overall rank, including top marks in three subjects and the highest average mark, demonstrating the exceptional calibre of students produced through this collaboration.
Partners in top rankings and global exchange opportunities
The Guardian’s rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation using nine distinct criteria, which include teaching quality, career prospects, and overall student feedback. This rigorous approach ensures a well-rounded assessment of institutional performance, taking into account factors such as the effectiveness of teaching methods, the impact on students’ future career opportunities, and the overall satisfaction of the student body. By considering these diverse aspects, The Guardian provides a nuanced and reliable measure of each university’s strengths and areas for improvement, offering valuable insights for prospective students and stakeholders alike.

- University of St Andrews – 2nd
