This partnership provides students with access to high-quality education, paving the way for elevating the caliber of professionals and advancing the development of Vietnam’s tourism and events industries.

British University Vietnam (BUV) is proud to announce a new partnership with Bournemouth University (BU), an esteemed UK institution known for its excellence in higher education. This strategic alliance marks a significant milestone for BUV as it continues to expand its network of distinguished global partners and elevate the quality of its academic offerings.

Bournemouth University is the new awarding body of BUV for Tourism Management and Events Management programmes

This collaboration brings two undergraduate programmes Tourism Management and Events Management to BUV’s campus. These programmes are part of BU’s internationally renowned Tourism, Hospitality & Events courses, ranked among the top 20 globally for Hospitality & Leisure Management in the QS World University Rankings 2024 and 2nd in the UK for Hospitality & Tourism Management in Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023. With over 30 years of teaching experience in this field, BU has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Tourism by the Institute of Travel and Tourism and is certified by the World Tourism Organization. Notably, BU also owns the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research (ICTHR), a globally leading center for research that contributed to a submission in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, where 83% of the outputs in unit of assessment 24, “Sport and Exercise Sciences, Leisure and Tourism,” were rated as world-leading or internationally recognised. This ensures that BUV students will benefit from a curriculum validated or excellence on the international stage, equipping them with comprehensive knowledge and essential skills that align directly with the fast-evolving tourism and events industries. Upon successful completion, graduates will earn a prestigious Bachelor of Arts degree, fully accredited in the UK and recognised worldwide.

Professor Raymond Gordon, Vice-Chancellor and President of BUV, emphasized the partnership’s value: “At BUV, we are committed to delivering world-class education and equipping our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the global workforce. Our new partnership with Bournemouth University represents a pivotal advancement in our ongoing mission to bring the highest calibre of UK education to Vietnam. We look forward to welcoming students to these innovative programs and seeing them become successful in the tourism and events management sectors.”

Professor Ray Gordon, Vice-Chancellor and President of BUV and Professor John Vinney, former Vice-Chancellor of BU signed a Memorandum of Intent

Professor Alison Honour, Vice-Chancellor of BU, also expressed enthusiasm, noting, “We are a university with a vibrant international community of students and staff, and I am delighted that we are partnering with BUV to offer programmes in Vietnam, expanding our BU global presence.”

Ranked among the top 100 young universities worldwide and third in the UK in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2024, BU has also secured an impressive 39th place out of 1,963 institutions in the THE Impact Rankings 2024, which measure universities all over the world against the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. These high rankings reflect BU’s mission and commitment to sustainable development, aligning closely with BUV’s shared vision of fostering sustainable growth and responsible global citizenship through education.

The partnership with Bournemouth University aligns with BUV’s mission to deliver world-class, industry-driven education in Vietnam, enabling students to gain UK-accredited degrees with the highest academic and professional standards. Together, BUV and BU are shaping a new generation of graduates who are equipped to thrive in the tourism and events sectors, both regionally and globally.
