ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES

(VI) Since 2023, the SAS Office has offered a range of comprehensive programmes designed to foster academic excellence and personal development.

Student Tutor Programme

SAS’s most remarkable programme is the Student Tutor Programme, which facilitates peer-to-peer learning by connecting students with high-achieving peers who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in specific courses and modules. Selected and trained by the SAS office, these student tutors will provide their peer tutees personalised guidance and support to navigate challenging concepts, refine the tutee’s study habits, and develop effective learning strategies. Through one-on-one sessions, students can receive tailored assistance with assignments, exam preparation, and overall academic performance.

Our dedicated student tutors also organize recap workshops (collaborating with faculty members), where they can share study tips and general revision for the challenging modules in each major, with an aim to nurture and develop the academic community in BUV.

WHAT DID OUR STUDENTS SAY?

Le Ngoc Xuan Mai

International Business Management (University of Staffordshire)

SAS is where I met wonderful tutors who helped me a lot on my learning journey. As a student from a public school who had never experienced an international education system, I faced many difficulties in my first semester at university because I was not used to the new learning methods.

But everything changed when I learned about SAS – a place with super enthusiastic and friendly peer tutors. They not only helped me find a more effective way to learn but also helped me prepare better for assignments. More importantly, my grades improved significantly, and I was also inspired to become a peer tutor at SAS, with the desire to help other students, just as I had received help from SAS. I am extremely grateful to SAS for creating an excellent learning environment where I have the opportunity to learn from the most talented students. I hope that SAS will become more widely known and used by BUV students! Want high grades – remember SAS, everyone!

Dinh Duc Viet

Marketing Management (University of Staffordshire)

Academics had never been my strong suit from high school until I finished my first year at BUV. But when I coincidentally stepped into the SAS office with a friend, the fire to conquer the path of learning was rekindled in me from that moment. And after just one semester of studying with the tutors, going through tough modules like Big Data or Social Media Content & Planning, I received a miracle when I was fortunate enough to be in the top 5% of students with the highest academic results of the year. The enthusiasm and care from the SAS advisors and staff were the motivation for me to be more confident in my academic journey, the final piece of the puzzle to complete myself, helping me win the Student of the Year award and balance my studies and extracurricular activities at BUV most effectively.

Hoang Phuong Thao

Valedictorian of Accounting and Finance (University of Staffordshire)

As a BUV alumna and a former tutor for SAS in the Accounting modules, I had the opportunity to work, interact, and build wonderful relationships that I truly cherish during my three years of study at the university. From the incredibly friendly SAS staff who were always ready to support and assist me, not only with tutoring but also with the academic competitions I participated in, to my fellow tutors who learned and improved our teaching methods together, and the eager-to-learn tutees who always brought me a cheerful and dynamic atmosphere along with their stories about BUV – I am also very happy to have been able to maintain these relationships outside of school. I will always remember and be grateful for the gifts, presence, and support from the SAS family throughout my studies at BUV, they were present at all the merit award ceremonies, presentations, and graduation day. Joining SAS is definitely the choice I am most proud and grateful for at BUV.

Nguyen Hai Linh

Finance (University of London) / Top 2 IFP Globally – International Foundation Programme

Being a tutor at Student Academic Support has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. It’s fulfilling to see students grow on their learning journey and improve their academic performance. I’ve developed essential skills like communication and problem-solving, also learned to adapt to different styles to create a supportive environment for students to thrive. What makes this experience even more special is the enthusiasm of the staff and the strong sense of teamwork. The encouragement from both students and staff is the greatest motivation. I feel grateful to be part of a community that values learning and collaboration, and I hope to continue making a positive impact on students’ academic success.

Bui Quy Duong

Valedictorian of Marketing Management (University of Staffordshire) / PSG Champion Award: Academic Excellence

In my second year of university, I was still quite introverted, and not very fond of socializing or participating in clubs or community activities after class. However, I always had a strong desire to help others and share the valuable things I learned every day at school. It wasn’t until I was introduced to the SAS (Student Academic Support) program, a pilot initiative by BUV to build academic culture and connect students through sharing about learning, that I truly found my place. Two years of working with SAS as a Student Tutor not only helped me improve my knowledge and skills but also made me grow every day. There, I was inspired by the talented students of BUV, and like-minded peers who gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and dare to take on new challenges.
