How AI is Transforming Healthcare and Digital Security for the Greater Good 15:05:44

With a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. Sasikumar Perumal has a strong background in artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and big data analytics. His research focuses on applying AI to healthcare, cybersecurity, and misinformation detection, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical advancements and real-world applications. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, his work addresses some of today’s most pressing challenges.

AI-Powered Brain Tumor Detection for Faster and More Accurate Diagnosis

Early detection of brain tumors is crucial for successful treatment, but traditional diagnostic methods can be time-consuming and less precise. To tackle this issue, Dr. Sasikumar developed an AI-powered framework using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Transfer Learning to improve accuracy and reduce detection time.

By integrating data augmentation, the model learns from diverse medical images, enhancing its ability to detect different tumor variations with greater flexibility. Additionally, transfer learning allows the AI to leverage pre-trained models, significantly reducing training time while maintaining high performance.

This research not only enhances early diagnosis but also provides doctors with an advanced tool to support decision-making, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Fighting Misinformation with AI-Powered Rumor Detection

In today’s digital age, misinformation spreads rapidly on social media, making it difficult to distinguish fact from fiction. To combat this, Dr. Sasikumar developed a Graph-Based Rumor Detection Model using Graph Neural Networks (GNN) to analyze how posts spread and how users react to them.

Unlike traditional approaches that rely solely on text analysis, this model incorporates reaction-based features, such as likes, shares, and comments, to assess how information propagates and how trustworthy it is. As a result, it improves accuracy in identifying fake news, providing a more effective solution for ensuring online information integrity.

Through his research, Dr. Sasikumar is driving AI innovation in both healthcare and digital security, aligning with BUV’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and impactful research. His work not only advances AI applications but also helps shape the future of research at BUV, ensuring that technological advancements lead to real societal benefits.
