British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and other UK universities. POSITION PURPOSE
The Event Manager is responsible for leading the strategic planning, management, and execution of all marketing and university events. This role will ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, impactful event experiences that support the university’s strategic objectives, brand image, lead-generation targets, and departmental needs. The manager will oversee a team of event staff, fostering an environment of collaboration, precision, and excellence.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Data-Driven Event Strategy & Execution:
- Oversee the strategic planning, coordination, and successful execution of all university-wide events, lead-generation activities, and ambassador programmes.
- Develop and manage comprehensive event plans, from concept to completion, defining KPIs and tracking ROI to inform future strategy, with a focus on lead generation for admissions.
- Manage all aspects of event logistics, including budget management, vendor negotiation, on-site coordination, and post-event analysis and reporting.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Risk Management:
- Collaborate closely with all related departments to ensure event content and objectives align with university-wide goals.
- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management plans for all events to ensure the safety of participants and staff.
Branded Merchandise & Collateral Management:
- Collaborate with Creative Services in managing university branded merchandise and marketing collateral, including sourcing, production, inventory management, and distribution.
Team Leadership & Operational Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Events team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture.
- Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support the professional growth of team members (e.g., Event Officers).
- Manage the Events budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, agencies, and suppliers, ensuring optimal service delivery and value for money
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-6 years of progressive experience in event management, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful delivery of various scales of events.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, directly managing and developing an events team.
- Demonstrable experience in:
- End-to-end event planning and management for both small and large-scale events.
- Budget management and vendor negotiation.
- Strong project management, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) for lead capture and tracking.
- Data analysis and reporting skills
Desirable
- Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications.
- Experience working within the international higher education sector.
