POSITION PURPOSE

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Data Services Manager to lead our efforts in transforming data into a critical business asset. This dual-focus role is responsible for overseeing our enterprise Reporting & Business Intelligence services while also driving innovation through our Data & AI practice. You will manage a team of analysts and engineers to ensure the delivery of reliable, insightful reporting and to pioneer advanced solutions in machine learning, automation, and data governance.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1.  Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of BI developers, data analysts, and data
  • Develop and execute a holistic data strategy aligned with business objectives, encompassing both traditional BI and modern AI capabilities.
  • Manage the portfolio of data projects, prioritizing initiatives based on business impact and resource

  • Manage the budget, vendor relationships, and tools for the data services

2.  Reporting & Business Intelligence Services:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document reporting and analytics
  • Oversee the design, development, maintenance, and performance of our central data repositories (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, SQL Server, Databricks) to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Lead the development and deployment of high-impact, user-friendly reports and interactive dashboards primarily using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Define, track, and report on key business metrics (KPIs), ensuring accuracy and consistency across the

3.  Data & AI Services:

  • Implement and enforce data governance policies, including data quality, metadata management, security, and privacy standards.
  • Guide the team in performing statistical analysis and conducting deep-dive analyses to generate actionable insights.
  • Identify opportunities for and oversee the development of automation solutions (e.g., RPA, automated data pipelines, self-service analytics) to streamline business processes and improve efficiency.
  • Explore and pilot new AI/ML technologies and methodologies to solve complex business problems and create a competitive advantage.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, information systems, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data management, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role overseeing a technical team.
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Power BI (including Data Models, DAX, and Power Query) and the broader Microsoft data stack (e.g., Azure SQL DB, Synapse, Fabric).
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure) and modern data architecture (Data warehouses and data lakes).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and proficiency in at least one programming language relevant for data science (Python preferred, or R).
  • Demonstrable experience with data governance frameworks and master data management (MDM)
  • Experience scoping, managing, and delivering data projects from conception to
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Highly Preferred: 

  • Direct experience developing or managing the development of machine learning models and seeing them through to production.
  • Experience with automation tools like UiPath, Power Automate, or Apache
