Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the transition from traditional offline teaching and learning methods to online learning has happened rapidly, which is still a challenge to many schools and universities around the world and requires industry-wide coordination, as well as support from other industries to education.  Thus, the conference is an opportunity for educational managers and policy makers in Vietnam and around the world to share their in-depth knowledge and practical experiences on implementing online teaching and learning in international and domestic institutions and universities in Vietnam. In the event, Minister Phung Xuan Nha stated: “The Ministry of Education and Training has been issuing the necessary policies to encourage online learning and blended learning, spontaneously promoting the digital transformation of education”.

The conference is an opportunity for educational managers and policymakers to share their knowledge and experiences on implementing online teaching and learning

Also, Professor Dr. Raymond Gordon commented: “The transition to online learning is not just about operating classes and teaching over the internet, but also optimizing technological application for the purpose of enhancing the experience and interaction among teachers and students in demonstrating and absorbing the knowledge. The blended learning model has been offering many benefits to students because it helps them to access vast virtual learning resources not only in Vietnam but also all over the world.”

Professor Dr. Raymond Gordon delivered his speech in the event

At BUV, the application of blended learning was introduced into teaching before the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2019, BUV became the first university in Vietnam, and one of the first educational institutions in the ASEAN, to provide 100% digital resources for students with its Learning Management System (LMS). Given a partnership between BUV and Kortext – the UK’s leading digital resource provider, BUV students are likely to access the huge learning resources from more than 1,000 world-wide publishers such as Pearson, Oxford University Press, Taylor & Francis and Cambridge University Press, …

With the aim of enabling students to access this enormous online library, to actively manage their learning process and to engage more with faculty, BUV also provides each new student with an iPad. Thanks to that, the translation of the learning model at BUV to the 100% online platform was within only 24 hours.

BUV students are provided with 100% digital resources for students with its Learning Management System (LMS)

The LMS and e-learning platform have brought about profound changes in teaching and learning, pitching the motto of BUV which mainly focuses on the students’ experience and journey.

Students can discuss over the platform, share documents and materials, create groups and record the lectures on the system easily at any time. Additionally, BUV students can connect to lecturers throughout the platform, do homework and research and submit their assignments on the LMS.

The exercises are also posted at the end of each lecture, so that students can assess their learning capability and teachers can evaluate the suitability of each lesson with the students’ ability to comprehend the material.

Due to the convenience and benefits that the LMS offers, BUV’s students and faculty do not encounter any obstacles in the digital transformation, and vice versa, teaching and learning activities are even more engaging, high quality and constantly improving.

The application of blended learning affirms BUV’s commitment to bringing advanced educational technology, cutting-edge teaching methods and facilities into Vietnam, in order to create an inspiring globally-standardized learning environment for Vietnamese and international students at BUV. Thus helping them get well-prepared to work in a digitalized working environment in the context of international integration.
