BUV becomes the first and only British Council IELTS test venue in Southeast Hanoi 10:45:02

From March 2026, British University Vietnam (BUV) has officially become an IELTS test venue authorised by the British Council—the first in Southeast Hanoi and Hưng Yên—expanding access to internationally recognised English language certification for candidates in Northern Vietnam. With modern facilities and professionally managed processes, the venue offers a convenient and comfortable test experience.

The launch of the IELTS test venue at BUV marks a new milestone in the partnership between BUV and the British Council, while strengthening the region’s capacity to deliver international standardised testing. Candidates can now take the test in a British-style university environment, with contemporary academic spaces and infrastructure designed to global standards.

International-standard facilities designed for performance

All testing facilities at BUV have been directly inspected and approved by the British Council and the Hưng Yên Department of Education and Training prior to operation. The venue is fully equipped with reliable Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop systems, Logitech G Pro X noise-cancelling headsets, and secure, stable network connectivity—ensuring a seamless and accurate testing experience.

Functional areas are clearly organised and purpose-built, supporting a transparent, efficient, and candidate-friendly test process. Each test session is limited to fewer than 30 candidates, creating a quieter environment that reduces pressure and allows for maximum concentration. Located within the green campus of Ecopark, the venue also offers a calm, open setting that helps candidates stay focused and at ease throughout the exam.

“This is the newest IELTS test venue of the British Council, and the first and only official IELTS test site in Hưng Yên province,” said Ms. Trần Phương Thúy, Business Development Manager for International Exams at the British Council. “We are partnering with British University Vietnam—an international university with 5-star facilities—to ensure that all test delivery conditions meet global standards. With its modern environment, well-integrated systems, and professional academic setting, we believe this venue will offer candidates a convenient, reliable, and high-quality testing experience.”

In addition to its facilities, the entire candidate journey at BUV is designed to be smooth and well-structured, helping to minimise stress on test day. From arrival and identity verification to test room entry, each step is clearly guided. All staff and invigilators are trained according to British Council procedures, ensuring consistent and professional support throughout the process.

Speaking test rooms are spacious and soundproofed, ensuring optimal focus for test takers

BUV’s designation as an official IELTS test venue reflects a broader step forward in expanding an international education ecosystem within its campus. The presence of a globally standardised testing facility not only enhances the academic environment at BUV but also brings internationally recognised assessment standards closer to students in the region.

“The Hưng Yên Department of Education and Training welcomes the British Council’s launch of its first and only official IELTS test venue in the province, located at BUV,” said Mr. Phạm Đồng Thụy, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hưng Yên. “BUV is an international university with QS 5-star facilities, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources. The addition of a globally standardised test venue in the locality will provide students with greater access to international English certifications, opening up broader academic and career opportunities in a global environment.”

Set within BUV’s green campus, the IELTS test venue offers a calm and focused testing environment

A candidate who took the IELTS test at BUV on 14 March shared: “I’m really glad I chose BUV as my test venue. The space here is spacious, quiet, and surrounded by greenery, with clean rest areas available between sessions—it feels very different from venues in the city centre and helped me stay calm throughout the test. The staff were also very supportive and professional, which made the whole experience much smoother.”

Experience IELTS firsthand

Alongside the launch of the new test venue, BUV will also host IELTS Day 2026, an event organised by the British Council for those preparing for IELTS or exploring international study opportunities. Participants will gain deeper insights into the test format, attend expert-led sessions, experience mock activities for Speaking, Reading, and Listening, and join workshops on Writing skills and strategies for achieving target band scores.

The event will take place on 28 March 2026. Register here.

The IELTS test venue at BUV has officially opened for registration since 14 March 2026, with special offers available for candidates registering directly through BUV’s system here.
