POSITION PURPOSE

British University Vietnam (BUV) seeks an exceptional and visionary Head of Campus Facilities and Services to lead the strategic development and operational excellence of our campus infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Chief Operating Officer (COO), this senior leadership role is pivotal in transforming BUV into a world-class, sustainable, and technology-enabled educational environment.

The successful candidate will spearhead ambitious initiatives including advancing green campus leadership, fostering AI-driven innovation, managing operational excellence across 6.5 ha multiple-phase campuses, expanding catering and campus amenities, and delivering five-star facilities and services that enhance the experience of our diverse local and international student and staff community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY

1. Strategic Facilities Management Leadership

  • Lead comprehensive facilities management for operational Phase 1 and Phase 2 campuses, ensuring excellence in service delivery, maintenance standards, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance schedules, and lifecycle management of all campus infrastructure, buildings, and systems
  • Collaborate with the Property Optimization (PO) team to continuously improve operational effectiveness and space utilization across both campuses
  • Support the COO in delivering five-star campus facilities and services management that enhances the academic mission and user experience

2. Green Campus Leadership

  • Drive BUV’s green campus ambition through research and implementation of sustainable technologies and environmental best practices
  • Drive the agenda to deploy solar energy solutions, smart proactive maintenance systems, and intelligent operation management platforms
  • Lead the certification process for EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) for Phase 3, building on Phase 1 & Phase 2 success
  • Position campus sustainability as a key brand differentiator and institutional priority
  • Develop and execute long-term environmental strategies that balance ambition with practical implementation

3. Operational Excellence and Service Management

  • Elevate campus facilities and services management across all dimensions: Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), facilities, property, asset management, and security management
  • Oversee comprehensive security operations, including access control, surveillance systems, emergency response protocols, and coordination with security personnel to ensure a safe campus environment
  • Collaborate with the PPO (Procurement and Property Optimisation) team to implement Asset Management (AM) software for enhanced operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making
  • Develop, formalize, and standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Policies & Procedures (P&Ps) for customer service excellence
  • Create robust Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for effective crisis management and risk mitigation
  • Establish performance metrics and quality assurance frameworks to ensure continuous improvement

4. Transportation Services Innovation

  • Oversee delivery of high-quality, sustainable transportation services for students and staff
  • Integrate, where practical the Ecobus systems and electric vehicles (EVs) to enhance campus mobility and reduce environmental impact
  • Conduct periodical satisfaction surveys to gather feedback and drive service improvements
  • Achieve 10% cost reduction targets through effective management, route optimization, and operational efficiency
  • Enhance the overall campus and working life experience through transportation innovation

5. Catering Services and Campus Amenities

  • Lead the development and management of comprehensive catering services that cater to the diverse culinary preferences of BUV’s local and international student and staff community
  • Implement scalable and serviceable food service options including cafeterias, food courts, coffee shops, and grab-and-go facilities that can adapt to changing campus populations
  • Ensure increased diversity in menu offerings, accommodating dietary requirements, cultural preferences, halal options, vegetarian/vegan choices, and allergen-conscious selections
  • Oversee additional campus facilities including bookstores, convenience shops, recreational spaces, study lounges, and wellness facilities
  • Partner with vendors and service providers to deliver quality, affordability, and variety while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety
  • Continuously assess user satisfaction and market trends to evolve service offerings that enhance the campus lifestyle experience

6. Student Accommodation Excellence

Partner with the Student Accommodation and Housing team to deliver five-star accommodation services for on-campus and offsite student housing:

  • Maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness, safety, comfort, and maintenance across all accommodation facilities
  • Support the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance student living experiences, including cultural programs, community-building activities, and responsive support services
  • Create efficient processes that meet the diverse needs of an international student body
  • Monitor accommodation satisfaction metrics and implement improvement strategies

7. AI-Driven Innovation and Tech-Enabled Services

  • Foster an AI-driven and innovative approach to service delivery, exploring emerging technologies that can enhance operational efficiency and user experience
  • Champion the development of tech-enabled spaces that integrate smart solutions where feasible and cost-effective, including IoT sensors, digital platforms, and data analytics
  • Identify practical opportunities to leverage technology for service improvements, such as:
    • Digital service request and feedback systems
    • Data-driven decision-making for maintenance and resource allocation
    • Smart building technologies for energy management
    • Mobile applications for campus navigation and services
    • Automated reporting and monitoring tools
  • Adopt a phased, pilot-based approach to innovation, testing and validating solutions before full-scale deployment
  • Collaborate with IT and academic departments to explore research partnerships and innovation projects
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement and technological literacy within the Campus Facilities and Services team

8. Strategic Support for Institutional Growth and Expansion

  • Provide strategic facilities and operational support for COO-directed initiatives related to BUV’s ecosystem development and institutional expansion
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and planning for geographic expansion, including new campus locations, satellite facilities, or partnership sites
  • Support the development of facilities frameworks and operational models that can be replicated and scaled across multiple locations
  • Collaborate on strategic projects that enhance BUV’s competitive positioning and market presence in the higher education landscape
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups and strategic planning sessions as requested by the COO
  • Demonstrate agility and responsiveness to emerging institutional priorities and expansion opportunities

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree highly preferred)
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in senior management roles
  • Sector Experience: Proven track record in higher education, hospitality, or large-scale commercial property management
  • Green Building Expertise: Demonstrated experience with sustainability certifications (LEED, EDGE, BREEAM, or equivalent)
  • Project Management: Strong background in managing complex construction projects and operational transitions
  • Budget Management: Experience managing significant operational budgets (multi-million dollar scale)
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire diverse, multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CFM (Certified Facility Manager), PMP (Project Management Professional), or equivalent
  • Experience implementing AI/IoT solutions in facilities or operations management
  • Knowledge of Asset Management software systems and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Familiarity with international health and safety standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Experience in customer service excellence frameworks and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Understanding of the Vietnamese regulatory environment and construction standards
  • Multilingual capabilities (English required; Vietnamese highly advantageous)
