UK Students Land Global Job Offers After Interning in Vietnam 23:01:11

A group of UK students chose to spend their summer discovering Vietnam in a unique way

Real work, real impact

As part of the British University Vietnam (BUV) Workplace Experience Programme, students from the University of Stirling and Staffordshire University had the opportunity to join real-world projects across diverse industries such as marketing, tourism, and game design.

Far from being limited to simple tasks, the students were entrusted with meaningful responsibilities, making direct contributions to business operations while exploring the diversity of Vietnam’s business landscape – one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic economies.

Take for example Britney Yuvonne Nguyen, a student from the University of Stirling, who spent eight weeks interning at Elite Group – a leading jewelry design and production company. From managing social media and creating innovative advertising campaigns to contributing to a new product launch, Britney left a strong mark. As a result, she was offered a part-time role at the company’s New York office immediately after her internship in Vietnam.

At first, I thought I would only be given minor tasks. But in reality, I was deeply involved in the work and learned so many skills in communication and problem-solving – an important foundation for my future career,” Britney shared.

Another Stirling student, Joshua Michael Wood, had the chance to be part of organizing Vietnam Game Connect 2025 – a global-scale gaming industry forum. He experienced the entire process: from producing communications materials and managing partners to working onsite at the event.

What impressed me most was the professionalism and team spirit. The night before the event, everyone stayed up almost until morning to make sure everything was perfect. It’s an experience I’ll never forget,” Joshua said.

For hospitality student Helen Margaret Loud from the University of Stirling, her internship at the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel opened up a different journey: drafting English tour scripts, assisting international visitors, and combining her hospitality knowledge with cultural tourism.

“The biggest challenge in hospitality is understanding and meeting customer needs. My internship taught me how to analyze those needs, adapt in any situation, and always ensure the best customer experience,” Helen reflected.

Meanwhile, four students from Staffordshire University, driven by their passion for gaming, took on Project Development Intern roles at Lạc Bird – one of Vietnam’s most creative game studios. They immersed themselves in the entire game production cycle, from concept development to execution.

“My internship in Vietnam gave me a stronger technical foundation, improved my communication skills, and enhanced my creativity,” said Cal Emerson Andrew Norwood from Staffordshire University. “These experiences will give me a competitive edge in the job market.”

The programme also brought value to the businesses themselves. Ms. Nguyễn Thu Thảo, Communications Manager at Elite Group, praised the international interns for bringing fresh perspectives and positive energy.

“We gave them real challenges, and they overcame them brilliantly. It was an unforgettable experience not only for the students but also for our company,” she said.

Discovering Vietnam in a Different Way

The BUV Workplace Experience Programme is more than just a career development opportunity – it’s a colorful cultural adventure.

From being surprised by the office lunchtime nap tradition, impressed by the friendliness of colleagues, to falling in love with the landscapes of Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City – every moment left unforgettable memories for these international students. Along the way, they also built lasting friendships that continued well beyond the internship.

“We are delighted that our international students not only performed well at work but also embraced Vietnamese culture. These experiences will be invaluable in their journey to becoming global citizens,” said Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thu Hiền, Head of International Partnerships at BUV.

A Hub for International Students

The Workplace Experience Programme is part of BUV’s internationalization strategy, offering international students authentic insights into Vietnamese culture and work environments. This initiative has made BUV an increasingly attractive destination for international exchange and study.

Ranked among the Top 5 most attractive universities for international students in Vietnam by EduOpinions – a trusted global student review platform – BUV is committed to fostering lifelong learning and expanding opportunities for real-world business engagement.

With a network of over 500 corporate partners, BUV not only opens global career doors for its own students but also allows international students to discover a vibrant and distinctive Vietnam.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with BUV to welcome more international students to experience not only the startup environment like ours but also Vietnam’s dynamic market as a whole,” said Ms. Hoàng Thảo Anh, Marketing Director of GameGeek.

Looking ahead, BUV remains steadfast in its mission to become a leading university in Vietnam and the region – a place that champions academic excellence, practical application, and global connectivity.
