The School of Communications & Creative Industries at the British University Vietnam (BUV) recently announced the Spectrum Exhibition – Summer Show 2025 opening, which drew hundreds of students, lecturers, industry representatives, and experts.

The exhibition is part of the Summer Show 2025 series, an annual flagship event by BUV’s School of Communications & Creative Industries. It’s a multi-cohort student showcase, featuring standout projects from three academic years by students of Contemporary Creative Practice and Professional Communication programmes.

The theme exhibition “SPECTRUM” takes inspiration from the diverse colours and forms of a light spectrum, showcasing each student’s creativity, academic insight, and individuality. All student artwork blends academic depth with practical innovation, reflecting the unique academic identity of BUV students.

The visual concept for the SPECTRUM showcase was crafted by Nguyen Ngoc Diep, a final-year student in the Contemporary Creative Practice programme. Drawn from her own journey at BUV, Diep was inspired by the vibrant diversity of skills, perspectives, and ideas among her peers.

“It’s a reflection of our personal and collective journeys, the growth we’ve experienced, the challenges we’ve overcome, the friendships we’ve built, and the lessons we’ve learned. Each project tells a story of creativity and resilience, brought to life through curiosity, collaboration, and a shared passion for expression.” Diep shared.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Rick Bennett shared at the Spectrum – Summer Show 2025 opening ceremony

At the opening ceremony, Professor Rick Bennett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of BUV, shared that universities should be playgrounds for student ideas, where they can freely explore, create, and learn from mistakes. The works of BUV students not only showcase innate talent but also reflect the university’s encouragement of open-minded, academically rich thinking. Professor Bennett expressed immense pride in witnessing such creative achievements at BUV.

Dr. Paul D.J. Moody, Head of the School of Communications and Creative Industries, noted that the exhibited works represent three years of sustained student effort, combined with the dedication and time invested by lecturers to bring this vision to life.

“We hope this exhibition boosts students’ confidence in showcasing their talents while reaffirming our school’s commitment to nurturing bold, inspired, and future-ready creative individuals,” Dr. Paul said.

The projects showcase meticulous attention to both content and presentation

The exhibition’s highlight is the final-year capstone projects by Contemporary Creative Practice programme students.  In addition, works from the 1st and 2nd year CCP students and the first year Professional Communication students are also exhibited.

The works in the Game and Vietnamese Culture themed room highlight the diverse artistic styles of BUV students

“Giao thong cam” by Le Minh Thang stands out in the Visual Communication and Social Issues themed room with its unique concept: transforming traffic signals into a medium for connection and empathy among motorbike riders in Hanoi.

“Tu Linh” by Nguyen Thu Phuong is a board game project inspired by the Four Sacred Animals in Asian folklore – Dragon, Qilin, Turtle, and Phoenix. The project skillfully weaves elements of traditional culture into every detail, paired with accessible board game mechanics, allowing players to explore Vietnamese cultural identity through an engaging form of entertainment.

Nguyen Ngoc Diep’s “EMO*JZTR” project impressed numerous businesses. It’s a set of messaging emojis inspired by Gen Z’s online culture, particularly popular expressions and slang from TikTok, designed to make online conversations feel more relatable and engaging.

Nguyen Tran Phuong Linh (Rikka) ‘s Han Fusion project, inspired by Chinese culture, captured significant attention from visitors with its vibrant animated style.

Visitors engage with the students’ showcased products

Each project showcases the unique personal touch of these young creators

The hallway area displays works by second-year Contemporary Creative Practice programme students.

The display room featuring first-year students’ works also attracted numerous visitors

The SPECTRUM – Summer Show 2025 exhibition will be open to the public until December 31, 2025, at the Art Gallery, 2nd floor of Building E, BUV campus.
