Mr. Dzung’s talk inspired students, helping them better define their personal development goals and draw valuable lessons to strive for success while maintaining work-life balance in their career journeys.

Last week, British University Vietnam (BUV) students had the privileged opportunity to engage in an intimate dialogue with Mr. Dang Anh Dzung, former Deputy CEO of Lazada Vietnam and Financial Director at Unilever. The session offered a rare glimpse into the mindset of a C-level executive who has navigated both traditional corporate and digital commerce landscapes.

Mr. Dang Anh Dzung, former Deputy CEO of Lazada Vietnam and Financial Director at Unilever at the CEO Talk with BUV students

The atmosphere was remarkably candid and personal, as Mr. Dzung shared his journey with warmth and humility. Breaking from typical corporate presentations, he created an environment where students felt comfortable asking deep, meaningful questions about career choices and personal development.

In a particularly memorable moment, Mr. Dzung shared his philosophy about career growth. This principle guided his own bold career moves, including his transition from an 18-year tenure at Unilever to becoming CFO at Lazada at age 41.

With over 20 years of experience across significant roles in major corporations, Mr. Dzung shared profound insights, offering a senior leader’s perspective in the Finance sector

Among the key messages that resonated with students was his fresh perspective on success. “The definition of success should be much wider than it was 10 or 20 years ago,” he emphasized, encouraging students to look beyond traditional corporate ladder climbing and focus on making meaningful impact in their communities.

Mr. Dzung’s insights on networking struck a chord with many attendees. Rather than pursuing connections for career advancement, he advocated for authentic relationships built on shared values and genuine interests. “When you talk to a person long enough, you know if they have that light and energy in their heart that radiates to people around them,” he shared, emphasizing the importance of connecting with positive, purpose-driven individuals.

The session also touched on the importance of being well-rounded professionals. Drawing from his own experience as a literature enthusiast turned finance leader, Mr. Dzung stressed that today’s generation has unprecedented opportunities to develop diverse interests and skills.

Mr. Dzung was particularly impressed by the “lion-hearted” spirit and the lush green campus of BUV

This exclusive session provided BUV students with not just career advice, but also valuable insights into leadership, personal growth, and the evolving nature of success in today’s business world. Such intimate interactions with industry leaders exemplify BUV’s commitment to providing students with real-world perspectives and meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.
