Winners of BUV Research Contest impress scholars at SU x BUV Faculty Research Symposium

At the recent SU x BUV Faculty Research Symposium, two outstanding research proposals by BUV students captivated the audience. The students, Hoang Phuong Thao (3rd year Accounting & Finance student) and An Quynh Trang (2nd year Marketing Management student), winners of the BUV Research Contest, confidently showcased their research potential.
Hoang Phuong Thao and An Quynh Trang are the winners of BUV Research Contest, a university-wide competition for all students to propose their research to the panel of Student Academic Support Office and Centre for Research & Innovation. The BUV Research Contest provided a platform for talented students to showcase their research abilities and receive valuable feedback from experts in the field, and offered the winners an opportunity to present their work in front of international audiences. Both proposals were full of potential and reflected the knowledge and practical skills the students were taught within their respective disciplines.
With her background in Accounting & Finance, Hoang Phuong Thao presented “The Adoption of Blockchain Technology in Cost Allocation in Vietnam”, delving into the potential of blockchain technology, which shows a huge potential in cost allocation practices in Vietnamese organisations. Inspired by the intricate nature of traditional cost allocation methods, Thao aims to explore how blockchain can enhance accuracy and efficiency in this critical business function. Her research holds significant promise for the manufacturing and service sectors, which contribute substantially to Vietnam’s GDP.

Meanwhile, Marketing Management student An Quynh Trang’s research proposal focuses on understanding the factors influencing Generation Z’s willingness to share information in surveys. Her study seeks to identify key elements that impact data accuracy and participant engagement. Trang’s proposal has the potential to significantly improve survey design and data collection methodologies, benefiting businesses and industrial researchers alike.

Sharing their feelings on this opportunity, both students expressed their gratitude for the support and guidance received from BUV faculty, whose mentorship played a crucial role in shaping their research endeavours. The students also highlighted the invaluable experience of presenting their work to a distinguished audience, consisting of international researchers and scholars, which boosted their confidence and motivated them to further pursue their research.

“Our students’ presentations at the Symposium were remarkable. They both presented compelling research topics that they are working on as part of their studies, impressing attendees from both institutions. Their performance not only showcased their academic skills but also highlighted the quality of research being conducted at our university. It’s a proud moment that reflects the dedication of our students and their supervisors and highlights what’s possible when we involve students in the research process,” Assoc. Prof. Mike Perkins, Head of the Centre for Research & Innovation at BUV, shared his pride in the students’ works.
As these students embark on their research journeys, BUV remains dedicated to supporting their aspirations and contributing to the advancement of knowledge.
