The delegation was warmly received by Professor Rick Bennett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President, and Mr. Christopher Jeffery, Pro-Vice Chancellor (International, Strategy & Engagement) of British University Vietnam (BUV). The discussions began with mutual acknowledgements of the shared goals to elevate education and research initiatives in the country.

A key highlight of the dialogue was the proposal to jointly organise short courses focusing on sustainable business practices and the circular economy. Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh emphasised the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s dedication to fostering educational opportunities that meet international standards, aiming to equip Vietnamese students and businesses with the knowledge essential for global competitiveness.

Professor Bennett reaffirmed BUV’s readiness to leverage its international expertise in support of these educational initiatives. He highlighted BUV’s established frameworks in sustainable development and how these could be customized to address Vietnam’s unique economic and environmental challenges.

VCCI pledged to actively participate as guest speakers at BUV, sharing valuable insights from leading companies like Unilever and Nestle. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry, providing students with current business knowledge and preparing future leaders for sustainable innovation in Vietnam’s business landscape.

Both parties expressed a strong interest in organising student conferences through platforms such as the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF), supported by VCCI. These conferences would focus on leadership in sustainability, offering students tangible career pathways amidst technological advancements and industry disruptions.

The meeting concluded with a firm commitment to continue detailed negotiations and develop concrete collaborative activities in the near future. BUV expressed full support for VCCI’s missions and goals for the future of Vietnam, stating its dedication to advancing education and research in Vietnam by using its own access to expertise and resources. This initial meeting identified key areas where both organisations could synergize efforts to maximize impact and established a working group from BUV to develop concrete plans and actionable strategies to support Vietnamese businesses in global ventures.

This potential collaboration between BUV and VCCI represents a significant milestone in enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses. By combining BUV’s academic strengths with VCCI’s industry insights and network, this initiative is poised to make a transformative impact on Vietnam’s business landscape, ultimately helping local businesses sustainably thrive in the global economy.
