Empowering the Dreams of Young Talents

Upon receiving the Lion’s Heart Scholarship, Oc Thi Quynh Anh shared: “Born in the mountainous border district of Tuong Duong, Nghe An, and being an ethnic Khơ Mú, life for people in my hometown is extremely challenging. Even the simple desire to pursue education is not easy. Receiving the scholarship from BUV is a great honour for me. It serves as a cornerstone in my pursuit of returning to contribute to my homeland and sharing Vietnamese culture with friends worldwide. Moreover, I aspire to ignite greater motivation among ethnic minority girls to prioritize education over early marriage or manual labour. Otherwise, these girls will once again fall into the cycle of poverty and hardship”.

However, he refuses to be defeated by circumstances and always sets a guiding principle for himself: “If you strive and persevere every day, the results you receive will be worth the effort you put in.” Duc continuously strives for self-improvement and aids young people with difficult circumstances or physical disabilities around him. During the award ceremony, Pham An Khanh, the winner of the British Ambassador Scholarship, shared her scholarship application journey as an opportunity to explore hidden potentials and push the limits of her own capabilities. Khanh stated: “Previously, I found myself in a dilemma when I wanted to study in an international environment and go abroad for further education but couldn’t leave my family behind. My older brother – who has always been by my side through every journey had to leave to pursue his dreams – and my father fell ill not long after. BUV appeared as my destiny, helping me find a solution to that difficult situation. Throughout the pursuit of the scholarship, I realized that I may not be the smartest or most outstanding person, but I can learn. Along this journey, I not only learned how to write a personal statement, a CV, or an essay for the first time, but I also discovered myself. For the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to reflect on myself and recognize my values and potential.”
