Dr. Paul D.J. Moody

Dr. Paul DJ Moody’s qualifications include: PhD (Royal College of Art, 2023) Acts of Resistance by documentary practice in Visual Communication; Diploma in Professional Film and Video Production (North East Media Training Centre, 1989) and Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies (University of London, Goldsmiths’). In 1989 he entered international film, television and media industry as freelancer and independent filmmaker, working on award-winning international feature films, TV dramas, documentaries, shorts, arts, commercial and promotional projects. Between 1996-99 he furthered significant international careers when successfully managing the Northern Production Fund. Since 2004 he has worked in Higher Education (Goldsmiths’, NFTS, NTU/ADM, RCA) while continuing filmmaking – currently directing a documentary in London and Cape Town about famed South African Jazz band the ‘The Blue Notes’.

RESEARCH GRANTS 

  • Secured 6m pounds sterling for the NFTS from Skillset, Media Programme of the European Union, and the European Social Fund for new core film-school programmes, diversity outreach courses, and international post-graduate bridges to industry project Passion to Market.
  • Secured $180,000 Sing dollars from the Singapore Media Development Agency for NTU/ADM film and animation students’ graduation projects.
  • Managed and part-raised 480,000 pounds sterling for the Northern Production Fund, from the European Regional Development Fund, the British Film Institute, the Arts Council of Great Britain the Motion Picture Association of America and European Social Fund. Wrote business plan that secured an additional decade of financing for the Northern Production Fund.
