BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

British University Vietnam (BUV) is the first and only international university in Vietnam to directly award British degrees from the prestigious University of London and Staffordshire University. POSITION PURPOSE

As a member of Career Services & Industry Relations Team – Student Engagement Department, the position acts as the connection between BUV and the industry. He or she is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining university-industry partnerships, with a focus on career services related collaborations, including but not limited to supporting employers to promote internship and job opportunities to BUV students and alumni, inviting guest speakers and other types of industry involvements into the academic, employability and other extra-curricular activities of the University. The role will act as BUV’s primary contact point to work with the University’s potential and current industry partners.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. University-industry partnerships
  • Act as the primary contact with new and current industry partners, including big corporations, SMEs, local and international organisations, public and private sector, … to elaborate the win-win partnerships, such as:
    • Organising activities such as career talks, skill workshops, recruitment days, career fair, company visits and field trips, guest lectures, and so on. Partners can collaborate in terms of being participants, contributing guest speakers, co-host, and sponsoring (financial & non-financial).
    • Sharing and creating employment opportunities for students and alumni, such as internships and jobs upon employers’ recruitment needs, tailor-made work placement and work shadowing for specific groups of students.
    • Providing case studies and expertise advice for academic modules, student competitions, and so on.
  • Promote the presence of BUV Career Services to industry networks, especially the human resources and professional community, by a diversified range of approaches, such as attending networking events, career talks, professional/ expertise conference; mailing and mass e-mailing; and involvements in Business and Professional Associations.
  • Maintain and develop the partner networks, new forms of university-industry partnerships in terms of supporting student’s professional, personal and social development to ensure the meaningfulness and sustainability of the partnerships.
  • Organise industry relations related events and activities, such as Corporate Appreciation, MOU/ Partnership Signing, etc.
  • Secretary for BUV School Industry Advisory Board’s operations and meetings.
  1. Career services support
  • Work closely with other members of Career Services & Industry Relations Team as well as any relevant stakeholders to ensure the quality of career services provision for students and partners.
  • Advertise and market internship and job openings, recruitment programmes and campaign, employer branding to students on campus and online channels.
  • Work closely with Career Consultants in maximizing successful placements, providing students with insightful advice to identify suitable career choices, prepare CVs, Cover Letter, interview skills, job referrals, etc.
  1. Operation & Administration
  • Customer Services: Ensure quality customer services & timely responses to a variety of written requests from corporate partners, students and parents for information relating to career services via telephone, correspondence and/or electronic mail.
  • Database: Maintain and improve the career placement database that can capture collaborations between the university and industry partners.
  • Record & Filling system: Maintain and update the record of keeping and filing system of job postings, employer contacts, industry partners, alumni database and status, students, etc.
  • Administration: Assist in the administration of the operations of the jobs in charge.
  1. Others
  • Participate and support in other extracurricular activities of the department.
  • Assist the department in preparing periodic reports and newsletter updates for Management and the University
  • Assist the Student Engagement Department in other areas when the need arises.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Relations Management, Education, Human Resources, and relevant majors.
  • At least 2-3 years of work experience in B2B partnership development, relations management, sales, and relevant roles.
  • Strong partnership management and networking skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Vietnamese with the ability to correct English and Vietnamese usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Passionate in supporting young people’s professional development.

Desirable

  • Master’s Degree
  • Well-informed of labour market trends, employer needs, recruitment practices, career aptitude and assessment tools, and best career services provision practices.
  • Candidates who have experience in recruitment consultancy firms, higher education setting, and international and multi-cultural work environments, with various connections in different industry sectors including businesses, corporates, NGO and NPO…etc.
  • Excellent workload and time management.
