POSITION PURPOSE 

The Senior Manager, Marketing Services is responsible for leading and managing the university’s central hub for creative services, event management, and branded merchandise. This role will ensure the efficient and high-quality delivery of marketing services that support the university’s strategic objectives, brand image, and various departmental needs. The manager will oversee a diverse team of creative and operational staff, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence. 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY  

Creative Hub Management & Production: 

  • Oversee the ideation, design, and production of a wide range of creative assets, including digital and print materials, photography, videography, and motion graphics, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and strategic objectives. 
  • Manage the creative workflow from brief to delivery, prioritising projects, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring timely completion of high-quality work. 
  • Lead and mentor the creative team (Designers, Visual Content Creator), fostering creativity, skill development, and adherence to best practices. 

Event Management & Execution: 

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and successful execution of university-wide events, lead-generation activities, and ambassador programmes. 
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics, including budget management, vendor negotiation, on-site coordination, and post-event analysis and reporting. 
  • Lead and guide the Event Officers to deliver memorable and impactful event experiences. 

Branded Merchandise & Collateral Management: 

  • Manage the lifecycle of university branded merchandise and marketing collateral, including planning, design, sourcing, production, inventory management, and distribution. 
  • Ensure brand consistency and quality control for all merchandise and collateral items. 

Team Leadership & Operational Management: 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Marketing Services team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented culture. 
  • Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support the professional growth of team members. 
  • Manage the Marketing Services budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines. 
  • Establish and optimise operational processes, workflows, and systems within the Marketing Services team to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of output. 
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, freelancers, and suppliers, ensuring optimal service delivery and value for money. 

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS 

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities) 

Essential  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Design Management, Event Management, or a related field.  
  • A minimum of 5-6 years of progressive experience in marketing services, creative services, event management, or a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful project delivery.  
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, directly managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team (e.g., designers, event staff, brand ambassadors).  
  • Demonstrable experience in:  
  • Excellent understanding of branding principles and visual communication. 
  • Managing creative production processes (design, video, print). 
  • End-to-end event planning and management for various scales of events. 
  • Managing branded merchandise and marketing collateral. 
  • Strong project management, organisational, and prioritisation skills. 
  • Budget management and vendor negotiation. 

 Desirable  

  • Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications.  
  • Experience working within the international higher education sector.  
  • Proficiency with project management software and creative design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
