Why BUV’s new Business Technology programme is the future of business education 10:46:54

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the global economy, the question is no longer whether technology will transform business, but who will lead that transformation. BUV’s new programme, Business Technology, serves as a bridge for tech enthusiasts and business majors alike to master the language of both worlds, equipping them with the strategic insight and digital fluency needed to lead organisations through the next wave of innovation.

In response to growing concerns from parents, students, and industry leaders about the rapid impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on business and management roles worldwide, British University Vietnam (BUV) has announced the launch of a pioneering undergraduate programme: Business Technology, in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University (UK). Designed as a strategic fusion of cutting-edge technology and core business principles, this flagship initiative positions BUV at the forefront of higher education innovation in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia.

BUV launches new Business Technology programme in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University (Top 1% in business programmes worldwide, with Triple Crown accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS)

As a recognised leader in AI integration within higher education and a pioneer in developing solutions for emerging societal needs, BUV’s groundbreaking programme uniquely prepares graduates not just to survive the AI revolution, but to lead it.

A Strategic Answer to a National and Global Challenge

The concern is real and growing. According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, 30% of current jobs could be automated by 2030, while skills in AI-exposed roles are evolving 66% faster than in others. Even traditionally “safe” management positions—from financial analysis to strategic planning—are now being reshaped by intelligent automation.

Unlike traditional business degrees that treat technology as a peripheral subject, or computer science programmes that lack strategic business context, BUV’s Business Technology programme represents a seamless integration of both worlds. The curriculum encompasses core business disciplines while providing hands-on experience with contemporary digital technologies, including emerging trends like generative AI, no/low-code development, and digital systems architecture.

Business Technology is a bridge for tech enthusiasts and business majors to master the language of both worlds

The programme addresses this challenge by developing five critical competencies that define tomorrow’s business leaders:

Digital Systems Architecture and Business Analysis: Understanding how technology infrastructure supports and drives business strategy, enabling graduates to design and implement technology solutions that create competitive advantage.

AI-Business Integration: Moving beyond basic AI tools to strategic deployment of artificial intelligence for decision-making, predictive analytics, and operational optimization across all business functions.

Data-Driven Strategic Leadership: Mastering business data analytics fundamentals to translate complex insights into actionable strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.

Digital Professional Excellence: Developing the skills to thrive as digital professionals within modern organisations, understanding how technology transforms traditional business roles and creates new opportunities.

Entrepreneurial Digital Innovation: Fostering entrepreneurial thinking specifically in the context of digital business, including the process of developing digital business start-ups and scaling technology-enabled ventures.

Building Vietnam’s Next Generation of Tech-Savvy Business Leaders

Vietnam’s ambition to make the digital economy 30% of GDP by 2030 demands a new kind of talent—professionals who speak both “business” and “tech.” The BTech programme directly fuels this national vision through work-integrated learning, live industry projects, and hands-on experience that ensure graduates build portfolios of real business outcomes rather than just theoretical knowledge.

Students engage with real-world challenges across Vietnam’s key growth sectors—from optimising fintech platforms in Ho Chi Minh City’s financial district to developing AI-powered customer experiences for Hanoi’s emerging retail technologies. Core modules include digital development, business data analytics, and digital systems architecture, all grounded in ethical frameworks aligned with Vietnam’s emerging AI governance priorities.

The programme creates graduates ready for high-demand roles that barely existed five years ago but now command premium salaries and global mobility:

  • AI Product Manager: Leading the development and deployment of AI-enabled business solutions
  • Digital Transformation Consultant: Guiding organisations through technology-enabled change management
  • Business Intelligence Director: Turning data insights into strategic competitive advantages
  • Digital Innovation Strategist: Identifying and implementing emerging technologies for business growth
  • MarTech Specialist: Leveraging marketing technology to drive customer engagement and business results

From day one, students work on collaborative projects, engage in group work activities, and present solutions to industry partners. This practical approach, combined with opportunities for internships and placement programmes, ensures graduates enter the workforce with proven experience in applying digital technologies to solve real business challenges.

Students are encouraged to embrace business and technology through teamwork and a team of expert lecturers, with highly tailored curriculum for the evolving market

Under the guidance of highly qualified international faculty with extensive experience in digital transformation, applied econometrics, and business innovation, BUV continues its mission of addressing evolving market demands through innovative educational solutions. The Business Technology programme draws on expertise from professors and industry experts who bring decades of combined experience from leading global institutions and multinational corporations.

By launching Business Technology, BUV reaffirms its role as Vietnam’s educational pioneer, transforming societal anxiety into opportunity, and equipping the next generation not just to adapt to an AI-powered world, but to architect its future.
