BUV launches the Tech Queens Scholarship – Empowering women to lead in tech 09:52:23

Committed to empowering women to lead in technology and digital transformation, British University Vietnam (BUV), in collaboration with leading local and international organisations, unveil the Tech Queens Scholarship. This initiative is designed exclusively for talented female students with a passion for technology.

In a world where technology continues to redefine industries and reshape our daily lives, the underrepresentation of women in STEM remains a critical issue. According to the International Labor Organization, in Viet Nam, women account for about 37% of the industry’s workforce. This statistic underscores a persistent gender gap, but it also signals an exciting opportunity: a thriving field where women can explore, excel, and lead. BUV is committed to closing this gap and empowering the next generation of women leaders in technology through the launch of the Tech Queens Scholarship.

The Tech Queens Scholarship: A Launchpad for future female leaders in tech world

The Tech Queens Scholarship is designed to inspire talented female students to join the STEM world and become leaders in technology fields. Partnering with leading local and international tech organizations, BUV offers up to 80% tuition coverage for 20 prestigious scholarships. These scholarships open doors to world-class international programmes within BUV’s School of Computing & Innovative Technologies, including Computer Science, Computer Games Design and Programming, Games Art (all awarded by University of Staffordshire), as well as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering (both awarded by University of Stirling).

This initiative is more than financial support; it is a call to action for women to bring fresh, diverse perspectives to the tech world. By nurturing future innovators, the Tech Queens Scholarship aims to inspire the next Hedy Lamarrs and Karen Spärck Joneses, who will not only transform the world of technology but also propel Vietnam onto the global stage.

What qualities are BUV seeking in scholarship candidates?

Scholarship recipients will be evaluated on academic results, leadership potential, and their ability to contribute to BUV and the wider community. Key factors include innovative thinking, readiness to represent BUV as student ambassadors, and relevant technical skills. While financial need and volunteer experience are considered, the focus remains on selecting individuals who can drive change and inspire others.

A commitment to elevating women in innovation

The launch of the Tech Queens Scholarship elevates BUV’s established Women in Tech Scholarship, further emphasizing our commitment to gender equality in education. This initiative not only provides unparalleled opportunities for female students but also reinforces BUV’s dedication to diversity and inclusion. Ultimately, “Tech Queens: Elevating Women in Innovation” represents a strategic investment in human capital, ensuring that women’s voices shape Vietnam’s digital transformation and enhance the country’s global competitiveness.
