Scholarships for transferring students at British University Vietnam

Posted on: 09/06/2017

With the aim of creating opportunities for Vietnamese youths to gain access to British education, British University Vietnam accepts transfer applications from students studying in public/private universities, overseas, or on joint programmes. The scholarship is valued at up to 170 million VND per student and is applicable for the academic year of 2017-2018.

170 million VND scholarship for students transferring from public universities

Students having completed the first or second year at public or private universities can apply for direct entry to the first year undergraduate courses offered by BUV and Staffordshire University. Students can be exempt from taking certain subjects on a case-by-case basis. This applies to all students with IELTS of 6.0 and above. Students can attend the English For University (E4U) course at BUV if they haven’t got the required IELTS score yet and do not wish to take an IELTS exam, or they can take IELTS preparation programmes.

BUV offers a number of scholarships up to 170 million VND for potential students that desire to study in a modern and international environment.

  • Average score from 7.0: Scholarships up to 55 million VND in value
  • Average score from 8.0: Scholarships up to 110 million VND in value
  • Average score from 9.0: Scholarships up to 170 million VND in value

Furthermore, BUV always strives to stabilise study costs. While some international universities apply an annual 10% fee increase, at BUV we minimise these changes to avoid adding financial burden to students and their families. In addition, our fee policy allows for the payment of tuition fee in small instalments.

Transfer to BUV from domestic and foreign universities

In some international universities inside or outside of Vietnam, students have to retake their whole subject if they fail their test. This leads to a prolonged study time, a negative mind-set and especially a higher cost. At BUV, instead of retaking, students have the chance to resit the exam up to 2 times, and compared to other international universities, the tuition fee at BUV is much more affordable.

All students studying undergraduate courses abroad or at international universities in Vietnam can apply for transfer to British University Vietnam.

  1. Transfer to a similar major:
    1. If you have completed all credits of modules that are also taught in BUV’s first year, you will be able to transfer to the start of year 2 semester 1.
    2. If you have completed more or less credits than required, admission will be on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Transfer to a different major: Admission will be on a case-by-case basis and will follow BUV admission guidelines.

Students can attend the English For University (E4U) course at BUV if they haven’t got the required IELTS score yet and do not wish to take an IELTS exam, or they can take IELTS preparation programmes.

Transfer to BUV from joint programmes

Currently there are many joint programmes between foreign and Vietnamese universities. Limitations of these programmes include the study environment quality and the value of a joint degree. At BUV, our faculty consists of 100% international lecturers with many years of experience teaching in different countries. Graduates of BUV will be awarded with a globally recognised degree from University of London and Staffordshire University.

Any undergraduate studying joint programmes can apply to transfer to British University Vietnam. Admission will be on a case-by-case basis, depending on their choice of study major and BUV admission guidelines. This applies to all students with IELTS of 6.0 and above. Students can attend the English For University (E4U) course at BUV if they haven’t got the required IELTS score yet and do not wish to take an IELTS exam, or they can take IELTS preparation programmes.

State of the art Ecopark campus

BUV’s Ecopark campus will be operational in early 2018, the 6.5 hectare facility with $20 million phase 1 investment capital will include lecture halls, an office building, self-study and group-work area, along with a 5-star hotel and restaurant complex for hospitality students, in addition to a vast online resource centre and sports centre.

Vibrant student life

BUV students can choose to participate and organise various events and activities throughout the year. The 14 clubs are founded and run by the students themselves. There are also workshops, seminars, fieldtrips and business competitions to join. BUV provides all the facilities to the standard of an international university.
